When I read this (welcomed) derailment I wonder if I even know bikes, I thought it was as simple as this; bike has two wheels, is funner with gravity, unless gravity is opposing direction of movement. Buttt it appears they are a little more complex than that.

Regarding slowing down the shifts I’m guessing they’ll restrict the shifter to one click at a time like their ebike shifters, but beyond that I’m not so sure how they could slow down the shifts on a cable system.

I’m seeing GX-level builds with unspecified derailleurs in my embargoed crystal ball… I haven’t seen anything about it in the orb, but I’m really hoping the X0 tier survives in a cable actuated format as well.

ZK is a super tough, light, and flexible material originally used on our road tires. For the team spec DH casings it's used as a breaker layer underneath the tread for puncture protection.

I got a set in the mail yesterday, the sidewalls definitely seem stiffer than the used Assegais I have sitting in the garage. 2800g+ for an MX set. Kudos to Maxxis for finally dumping the plastic hang tags for cardboard too.

Pedalling wise it's a 6 bar. Braking wise it's an 8 bar. There are 2 bars connecting the main triangle and the rear axle. Rear axle path is defined by a 6bar linkage. 6+2 defines the movement/rotation of the brake link. This is the exact reason why split pivots are single pivot pedalling wise but 4 bar braking wise.

Kind of, a floating brake arm effectively makes a separate linkage arrangement for the brake which is why it can have completely different anti rise ccharacteristics

As an Enduro owner, I feel like the seat angle is a bit overblown. While it would be nice if it was a bit steeper, it still rides fine and I basically never think about it. I would argue the fact that so little needs changing after 5 years show how much they nailed the design in the first place. I’m still consistently impressed by how well it pedals for a bike with that much travel.

If product life cycle length influenced pricing Shimano Saint would be free by now. 😆

Hope is a great company with admirable business practices. Then there's Specialized....they've made some great bikes (I've owned a few), but when it comes to business practices, not so great.

Yeah right! That said Hope actually did this. They calculated an amortized cost for the carbon bike including development time etc but then after a while they realized they had learnt so much from the project that could be applied to other carbon products and help to spread the sunk costs. So they dropped the price by £1000 (iirc) and gave a rebate to all the original customers! This is very Hope-like.
