As far as races in Whistler go, a beam further down the ramp is the primary timing. Pretty sure it'll be the same down under.

In most of the timing systems I have operated that have a “wand” you can plug in, the wand is essentially a delay device that records when it is triggered in a .csv, and your optical beam or chip time, which is the default time in the system is actually calculated based on the top sensor that is a little bit farther down the ramp. The only time i have looked at “wand triggers” is to manually enter a start time if something goes wrong with a chip. (i have no idea what timing system crankworks uses)

nothing has changed is quite a statement... tell that to all the people who got arrested on the border and kept like kettle for weeks in trumps konzentrationslagern add to that yesterdays harvard order and you can get a very clear picture: foreigners are no longer welcome in trumps second Reich

So cool to see a production bike you can bolt OEM weights to. That's such a wild break from historical bike marketing where weight is always bad. Feels like we're maybe, slowly, inching into the future and embracing a less superstitious worldview of bike performance.

TBH i am a bit surprised about all the positiv feedback for the Orbea bike To me the bike is just boring and has nothing really going for it. I mean i looks nice, but it's just a very normal split pivot design, No high pivot (wouldn't buy), no fancy kinematics and all those annoying enduro standards. Adding weight in a clan way is nice, but i wonder if you couldn't just make an alluminum frame in the first place

I haven't seen a product launch with such a positive reception in quite a while. Impressive. However, I have the same concern I always have with travel adjustment frames- tuned stiffness. If you change the axle to crown on your fork, change your rear travel, even adjust your chainstay length, you are changing the stiffness/compliance of the frame. In this case the increase to a DH fork isn't that big a deal- normally a longer axle to crown will make the bike flex more, but dual crown forks have shorter axle to crown lengths so going from 180 single crown...

Unfortunately not possible. Since the motor is in the way, the shock position and therefor the toptube will always be much higher on an e bike with the shock standing on front of the seat tube.

I rarely think most modern bikes are actually interesting, some are cool, but not actually interesting. That Rallon is awesome and huge props to Orbea for making something that looks amazing and has features that actually benefit riders.

I love this. For ages brands were saying their Enduro bikes were DH bikes you could pedal, but nobody put their money where their mouth was until recently!

I don’t see anything on this new orbea bike that’s worth the hype they’ve been building. Specifically i heard on (downtime I believe?) that it supposedly has some new features that aren’t seen elsewhere. Surely the weight compartment can’t be it? Is anyone noticing something that I’m not?

I don’t think you get it Dave. We are going to revolutionize fork manufacturing on this forum without ever having visited a factory or even talking to a designer or engineer about the myriad of factors that affect the design and manufacture of said forks.

RS probably flows 5x more free product to bros than Intend sells in a year. Scale not even on the same planet.

I honestly think Rockshox doesn't get enough credit for their attention to friction - everyone loves to talk about the latest dampers but those come well after the friction and the spring in terms of what actually matters. I noticed things like increasing the bushing length and carefully choosing bath oil viscosity (not too thick in most forks, but the short travel skinny leg forks get heavier oil) along with good alignment and clearances in the new forks. Fox still use very short bushings in all their models, plus I'm positive the oil channels they added in the lowers do...

I wasn't too sure where to post this so feel free to delete or move accordingly if it's in the wrong thread. Troy Brosnan's mechanic seems to be double taping the rim. Once with the Dt-Swiss rim tape and then a layer of Gorilla Tape over the top? What could the reasons be behind this? It looks like the DT tape is going from edge to edge so the Gorilla wouldn't be offering any additional adhesive. Is it a tape thickness thing? Never seen anyone double tape like that before.

I forgot to mention that 100mm OLD would also be 10% stiffer for the axle and for the arch. I remember various fork and component engineers shaking their heads in disbelief when the industry decided to settle on 15x110 rather than 15x100. Spoke triangulation has always been better for front wheels than rear, wheel manufacturers seem to chase front wheel compliance.

Looking at some tech randoms on some random site, I see the rotor does have engraving on the outer side while being installed this way. As you'd expect on a correctly installed rotor. I understand Brembo has quite a bit more history in designing brakes than I do, but I'd love to hear from the designer of this rotor. Last...

i'd agree that fewer companies are offering prebuilt wheels with 20mm hubs, and companies that are just getting into hubs (oneup) aren't offering 20mm. but there are still plenty of 20mm hub options available: king, hope, hadley, DT, i9, onyx, novatec, shimano, sram, sun ringle, reverse, e13, project 321, i'm sure there's more.

People are riding 42lb enduro bikes and love them. Lightweight bikes were a curse to the sport. So many performance compromises in pursuit of light bikes.
