4/25/2025 5:52am Affordable mtb clothing that doesn’t look crazy. Sure I can keep on buying the ugly stuff when it hits close out but id rather just buy bland stuff that’s well made and fits regular and doesn’t have a huge athlete roster to pay. Budget ss rigid bike that has an optional derailleur hanger. Decent Boost wheels. Decent hydraulic brakes. Good xc geo. Diffirent wheel sizes for diffirent size riders. Threaded bb. Tapered steerer to allow for an upgrade to quality fork. Basically the type of mtb someone should buy from a Walmart or dicks. Just capable enough to go out...

4/24/2025 1:27pm I do drill my rims (aluminum) and use Schrader tubeless valves from Amazon. Have had them for years and it's great. I'm never going back to presta.

4/23/2025 5:24am The cost, complexity, and weight would stop this from happening but split wheels like on a tractor or old semi. With it you could have a real mechanical bead lock where the entire bead is clamped down. It would have to essentially be a three piece system with the "spine" of the rim staying attached to the hub obviously and...

4/23/2025 5:02am Helmets specifically designed for rounder heads like the ones Smith specifically make for snow sport helmets. 760mm length high rise carbon bars. Modular brake mount adapters. Instead of having a bunch of different brake adapters, its just extra legs and a couple different bolts.

4/22/2025 1:53pm I want the adjustable clutch and lever of a shimano derailleur and the button of a sram derailleur (there’s one Aussie that makes a cover that does it, but he won’t sell to the US and I forget the website). I want quick reach and angle adjust headsets, like the Stumpjumper evo had but for other bikes I want air valves that hide inside the wheel, with a female attachment at the valve rather than on the pump. I want support from manufacturers for resoling their flat pedal shoes (unparallel does, but I want others) Last but not least, I...

4/22/2025 10:23am I just wish things could be standardized. My esoteric tool collection for working on one random specific part of a bike is quite large. Obviously bikes still have a long way to go because there are tons of parts that still suck and will continue to do so for years to come. All my actual wants are things that are impossible. As someone who puts DH rubber on their trail bike, I have always wanted a tire that would be a fast rolling semi slick on the way up and then a full fuck DH tire on the way down.

4/21/2025 1:31pm I wish there were fewer tiers of products to choose from and more emphasis on personalization within a product range for different sorts of customers. I don't think the average person benefits much from upgrading to GX, SLX, XT, XTR, XO or XX, but I think the average person benefits A LOT from the right head tube length, handlebar rise, chainstay lengths, frame flex characteristics, tire casing, damper tunes, spring rates, grip diameter, etc for their weight, body size, and riding style. The number of SKU's bike companies already have to juggle is ridiculous, so I think it goes without...

4/21/2025 8:42am Just wanted to post here since I have some meaningful feedback on the used market. In the last 2 weeks I've sold 3 bikes and I have 2 more listed that I am in the process of selling. Two of these were mine, the other 3 I'm selling for friends. -19' Megatower 1 - XL - CC - Great shape, decent build (x01 mechanical w/gx cassette, fox 36 w/push acs3 othwerise typical stuff) - Listed for 2,300, sold for 2k -22' Specialized Levo Carbon Comp - Large - Completely Stock, 750 miles - $3,500 -21' Orbea Rise M10 - XL...

4/21/2025 3:11am Some of you never rode when we had no clutches so the loose, flopping chain smashed against every part of your aluminum bike and the fork knocked in the 1 1/8th head tubes and then echoed through your monocoque frame and it shows. I can barely hear my current bike compared to the 3rd grade marching bands on wheels we used to ride pre-2012. I didn't even know you could hear what your tires were doing for the first 10 years I rode.

4/20/2025 8:02am I am old enough to have worked at a bicycle factory that manufactured bikes with the hayes 22mm mount, and old enough to have competed in stock trials, slalom and XC with a 22mm post mount. Afaik, every bike we manufactured with the 22mm mounts cracked at the chainstay, where the boss was mitered and welded in, and most of the Treks and Fishers I saw in the ds/street/huck meat space cracked too. The only way to do this solution well offroad is to make a very long NDS drop chunk that integrates the brake mount into it. Sram’s concentric...

4/20/2025 8:00am I've been riding for 15 years, but I was broke for the first 10 so I just rode whatever OEM tire came on my $500 hardtail 😜

4/19/2025 1:28pm Did you ever go to Maribor? The bottom of the gondola is a stop on one of the city bus lines and the city is basically right there, the second largest city in Slovenia. Granted, it's still basically a large village with 100.000 inhabitants, but as far as Slovenian standards go, it's a big one

4/19/2025 8:17am Great buy. I was able to rent a Roscoe on a trip recently and had a blast on it. Obviously the stock Recon Silver fork is underwhelming, but if you were able to pick up a Lyrik for cheap you're looking at a great rig. Sounds like you got a steal.

4/19/2025 4:03am Having spent several years frequenting the different venues on the DH and EWS circuit I found MSA and Snowshoe to be more the exception than the rule. Hop on google maps and have a look at where most of the European rounds are hosted. Leogang has limited lodging and is basically a gravel parking lot that just appears along the side of road; Val di Sole is only slightly better but most of the accommodations are closed during the summer and there's very little in terms of accommodation and dining on site; Lenzerheide requires almost everyone to be bussed in...

4/18/2025 6:53pm While typically I agree that add-on prices are an annoyance, I find the idea of adding a tariff fee line item pretty interesting. https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2025/04/16/specialized-an… It's a brands way of saying "The price of the actual product didn't go up, but the fees associated with getting the product here did." Seems like a good way to clearly assign responsibility for why consumers are paying more now. It's worth noting that if Spech is charging dealers 10% of dealer cost, or consumers 10% of MSRP for DTC sales, as opposed to the actual 10% of their imported invoice cost, then they are...
