Do you wish there was a 100mm dual-crown XC fork? DH frame with 600mm chainstays? Maxxis Wet Screams in 26" x 3.0?
This is the thread to discuss products you wish existed, whether they are something you think the masses would benefit from or something super niche that only you would use.
I'll go first. I've been riding singlespeed quite a bit for the last 7-8 years. Originally, I was on a carbon Kona Honzo with a Magic gear (no sliding dropouts). I loved the bike because it was super light and efficient, about 22 lbs. Now I have a custom steel Neuhaus Metalworks Hummingbird, the frame is a lot more versatile, but the lightest I've been able to build it is about 25 lbs. Lately, I've been interested in trying a full suspension single-speed. I've seen a few guys who run a chain tensioner on an Epic evo frame to run them SS. I'd love to have a carbon 120/120 full suspension frame that could be run single-speed without a chain tensioner. I know that's super niche and likely will never exist, but a boy can dream...
A very small, almost flush way to mount a cell phone on the top tube. It can't rattle. Its gotta have a release system and a small leash if u take a digger and it gets knocked off. There may already be something like this out there.
Of course I wish I had the luxury of riding without having to worry about cell phone access, but life demands connectivity for me for work and family on the majority of my rides.
Classic 3 rear pocket cycling jerseys solve this problem well. But there are very few around without a tight road fit anymore and my collection is gettin pretty worn.
electric dropper post with a 2nd motor that controls the angle of the seat
Motion Instruments System 2 😭
Sleeve-style knee pads that don't tear & fold back when you OTB wearing shorts
BT/ANT+ data bridge between Bosch Gen5 motors & Garmin head units
AXS dropper that powers off ebike battery (no collar battery tumor)
T-Type chainrings with 0mm offset & 3-bolt mounting pattern (non directional so they work on old eeWings)
saddle rail swag (tools, plugs,..)
paddles for AXS
Sram XX SL RD with weight of regular XX1
more T-type casettes (garbaruk, ...)
app for spoke tension by playing on them
Marzocchi´s with legacy design
More USD for with sliding bushings
even lighter and shorter coil springs (carbon??)
not-caffeine based energy bar (kinda used to caffeine, not working anymore)
eficient fatburner
Cheaper WRP zero drag internals (come on! they can by for just few bucks)
UDH AXS-style wireless drivetrain configurable for 10 to 12sp cassettes with several cage length choices.
I have this for a Garmin Edge but it may work for lighter phones, too.
Enduro MTB top tube computer mount – 76 Projects USA
I wish there were fewer tiers of products to choose from and more emphasis on personalization within a product range for different sorts of customers. I don't think the average person benefits much from upgrading to GX, SLX, XT, XTR, XO or XX, but I think the average person benefits A LOT from the right head tube length, handlebar rise, chainstay lengths, frame flex characteristics, tire casing, damper tunes, spring rates, grip diameter, etc for their weight, body size, and riding style. The number of SKU's bike companies already have to juggle is ridiculous, so I think it goes without saying that increasing the amount of personalization would require reducing the number of product tiers.
I think bikes are a lot more like running shoes than cars. When you're buying a car you're mostly buying features, aesthetics, stats, etc. The car itself is fairly transferrable from customer to customer. One size fits all. When you're buying shoes, you're buying size and fit first and foremost. Features, aesthetics, and performance stats come after that. I think a lot of bike shops and almost all bicycle marketing sells bikes and components like they're selling cars, not shoes. As a result, I see a lot of people (maybe most) riding bikes that don't fit, are set up wrong, and without basic information about how to set them up. Imagine going for a run in the wrong size shoes. You'd hate running very quickly. But we sell bikes as if THE BEST bike will make you happy, even if it's the wrong size, fit, setup, function, etc.
In a related complaint, it's also crazy to me that cars aren't designed to fit people at either end of the human height and weight bell curves, but that's another rant for another day. Screw tall people and short people, amiright?
Did you see that crazy SS Starling full sus? https://www.starlingcycles.com/frames/beady-little-eye-2024/
Not saying it's a good idea (I don't know), but damn if it isn't an interesting idea.
Not sure if this is what you mean by paddles, but Leap makes a bunch: https://leapcomponents.com/product-category/mtb-shop/
This is cool! Didn't know this existed.
They're pretty neat, I have the Quickshift and love it; I also use (and really like) their top-tube computer mounts and spare battery storage (altho I wish they'd add space for a CR2032 to the AXS battery storage gizmos).
Yes, I’ve been intrigued by that bike for a while, and I applaud them for making it. But selfishly, I don’t want a steel SS full suspension that weighs as much as my trail bike.

This bike is partially the inspiration for this thread. I’m sure this bike is crazy to ride with all the Gucci parts. But in a perfect world it wouldn’t need the chain tensioner. I know it’s necessary because of chain growth, but if someone made a lightweight dedicated SS carbon FS frame I’d be the first person to order.
I think with the pivot in the right place a URT design could work well for a single speed. Trek Y bikes weren't that bad compared to the sweet spot Schwinn. I'll go back to the retirement home now
I knew a guy who set up his carbon Y-bike as fixed gear. That was wild.
I'm still so f'ing pissed about Spesh and the MI2 debacle.
I want the in-frame, mini-pump, EDC-for-bikes world to start creating some easy, purpose-built places for me to store those really small, folding reading glasses. 🤣 All those tools don't do me any good if I can't see what I'm trying to fix! And given where bike prices are getting ready to go, I'd think a very high percentage of new bike purchasers are going to use reading glasses!
All those people should also just license from Dynaplug. They have the best product. Get on board with it.
I'd pay a fortune for Chromag Squarewave grips in a push-on version.
Dropper post companies should start offering 5mm shorter mounting bolts for the front of saddle clamps for people that run really low stack saddles (i.e., sq labs). It's a pain to find a shorter bolt to order or get one cut.
I want 5mm travel shims for droppers. I'll take every millimeter of drop one of my frames allows.
Saddles should use the BikeYoke system and have replaceable rails. (Also, BikeYoke should have a wider saddle for larger riders.)
Why doesn't adidas offer resoling for freerider pros? Can we not mount a environmental shaming of them that will get the job done?
On the tool front, why won't anyone make a reversible torque wrench with a 4-20 Nm range for a reasonable price Does no one with OCD rebuild their pedals?
That's the end of my rant.
Add me to the pissed-off-at-Specialized-for-killing-MI2 crew, was so mad when my order was cancelled..
Not sure what's a reasonable price for you but the Topeak Torque Stick does what you want and I'm very happy with mine: https://www.topeak.com/us/en/product/1393-TORQ-STICK-4-20-Nm
Wolftooth has been making those chainrings since Fall of 2023: https://theradavist.com/wolf-tooth-drop-stop-b-0mm-chainring-sram-transmission-review/.
At 6'7"/2m I've always wondered why motorcycles don't come in sizes. I can't believe that no one offers aftermarket dirt bike frames in a range of sizes.
Huh, when I bought my current one they only had 3mm offset and told me that I didn't need 0mm for Transmission. Good to know that they make them now. That said, I still think SRAM should sell one also since the 3-bolt pattern was their design and there are plenty of perfectly good X01/XX1 cranks on bikes out there. I find the SRAM tooth pattern is a bit quieter.
BikeYoke droppers can be adjusted with 5mm clips/spacers.
As a guy who loves FS bikes and really wishes he could pedal SS full time, I’ve always been interested in SS FS bikes as well.
It sounds like Devin over at Lenz Sport is still willing to build a MilkMoney SS FS frame, if time isn’t an issue. I’ve also heard varying reports of people saying they pedal great to not pedaling well at all. I believe the geo is bit more modern now than the photos on the webpage.
I sucked it up and bought a Park TW 2.2 beam style torque wrench, which I needed anyway for a frame main pivot that needed a reverse torque measurement. Park TW 1.2 should work well for you, but unfortunately have to pay the Park mark-up.
You can use a 3mm offset w/ T-Type (I have been since day 1 since I wanted to keep my eeWings) and SRAM is now on record saying it'll work just fine w/ a 52mm chainline (iirc this was a result of a bunch of gravel riders just doing it and posting about it)
Pretty sure that spoke tension app already existed - that was quite a long time ago I found it so its highly likely to be unsupported but I'm sure it was a thing at some point!
I just wish things could be standardized. My esoteric tool collection for working on one random specific part of a bike is quite large. Obviously bikes still have a long way to go because there are tons of parts that still suck and will continue to do so for years to come.
All my actual wants are things that are impossible. As someone who puts DH rubber on their trail bike, I have always wanted a tire that would be a fast rolling semi slick on the way up and then a full fuck DH tire on the way down.
I wish Vans would make a real mountain bike shoe with proper toe protection, flats and clipless. Every other brand just makes ugly ugly shoes.
Tons of frames have mounting bolts under the top tube for tools or whatever, but there aren't many options that really make good use of that space. I want an enclosed bag / box that can fit a CO2, a tubolito, and a mini tool. Wolftooth's B-rad is close, but it's too big and doesn't allow for quick access to the tool.
This is pretty much my reason for wanting to replace my Garmin Fenix 7 with a Fenix 8.
That way I can bury my phone in my pack (where it wont get damaged when I crash) but still answer important calls on the watch while i dig out my phone.
I really want a udh conversion kit
I have this little quick release bag, it’s pretty slick and came with 2 mounting kits so I can switch it between bikes in about 3 seconds. Doesn’t look like they offer it anymore which is weird.
