That's a bummer, I was really looking forward to this series. Hopefully they can pull it off later, this kind of racing is really what mountain biking needs, exciting races that can be held in places with less elevation generally

The track world is itself quite an obscure cycling niche though. Full disclosure: I designed the first Felt track bikes.

Prime Gwin, years ago in wayyyy better economic times said he's making approx $1m when combining all streams of income. Asa, as good as he is not in the same ballpark commodity wise as peak Gwin. No one is making 1.5m in today's climate IMO.

They are doing another season on this thing? Aren't we due (overdue) for a production version of the Demo already.

Hi all. I've been a very long-time lurker of this site and have used VitalMTB extensively when researching bike geometries and parts lists. I made my account here today just so I could join some discussions since the other site's forum is trash. Anyways, I'm a tire nerd myself. I started making this spreadsheet last year when I was searching for new tire combos for my Spartan HP and my Felt Decree 1. I just started cataloguing weights, widths, and casings. Where I live, there's no need for some super-duper-hardcore-heavy-sticky tires. This list will never end, and occasionally I add...

Squamish's local enduro going off today. Jesse and Richie going head to head for the first time this year with a handful of EDR pros in the mix as well. Live timing - https://zone4.ca/race/2025-04-27/7c300520/results

Thanks, I got the Lyrik on it and it feels great took the bike to the local flow trails and it shreds. Not to derail but would definitely recommend a Roscoe for a bike spanning the xc to jumpy hardtail type of riders. I have a remedy 8 as well and this bike really compliments it. On the topic of...
I like this forum question a lot- it gives me an outlet for all the little, probably impossible ideas. Here’s another one: a suspension tuning platform that explicitly incorporates tire characteristics, rim characteristics, and spoke material into the tuning profile

When accurate and precise timing is needed, it is Freelap that I use. It's not cheap, but works well. It's also easy to get timing data from multiple athletes running the same track. The timing app is run on an old cell phone that doesn't have a SIM card. It will typically be in a pack or left by the finish line to review the data easily and quickly. Camo tape to keep the transmitters hidden from curious hands.

Great question! FYI, Garmins (and other GPS devices) are significantly more accurate than the GPS in a phone, so if you're trying to time runs using Strava, it really pays to have a dedicated GPS device. In addition to that, Strava knows and advertises the limitations of their GPS segments, which you can read about here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918227-Optimizing-Segme… TLDR: any segment that's around a minute or less is likely to produce inaccurate times, switchbacks are bad if they're near a start or end point, other trail segments nearby will confuse the GPS and may produce faulty segments, all of which can...

Affordable mtb clothing that doesn’t look crazy. Sure I can keep on buying the ugly stuff when it hits close out but id rather just buy bland stuff that’s well made and fits regular and doesn’t have a huge athlete roster to pay. Budget ss rigid bike that has an optional derailleur hanger. Decent Boost wheels. Decent hydraulic brakes. Good xc geo. Diffirent wheel sizes for diffirent size riders. Threaded bb. Tapered steerer to allow for an upgrade to quality fork. Basically the type of mtb someone should buy from a Walmart or dicks. Just capable enough to go out...

I do drill my rims (aluminum) and use Schrader tubeless valves from Amazon. Have had them for years and it's great. I'm never going back to presta.

The cost, complexity, and weight would stop this from happening but split wheels like on a tractor or old semi. With it you could have a real mechanical bead lock where the entire bead is clamped down. It would have to essentially be a three piece system with the "spine" of the rim staying attached to the hub obviously and...
