I will put it plainly. Big people on little wheels -> frames can accommodate their size => no practical advantage Little people on big wheels -> frames cannot accommodate their size => practical disadvantage There is a fundamental physical advantage for bigger wheels relative to smaller ones in mildly bumpy terrain (XC like). Smaller riders cannot practically access this advantage. There is no disadvantage to small wheels if everyone is on the same wheel size. This is the issue. UCI has regulated road bikes (and others) for decades, sometimes just to keep the classic bicycle aesthetic. It’s funny that they...

When I started diving deeper into all of this bar and stem geometry when I designed our bars, I built myself a handy little tool to play around with cockpit geometries that takes bar roll into account. Stack and Reach is taken into account, depending on bar roll, but I have not yet found a way to calculate the sweep angles, as a function of bar roll. Either it's very complicated or I am just not seeing the forest for the trees. Brain gets mushy after some time of trigonometrics, espoecially in excel. But it's quite fun to play with.

Poll misses the point of the long chainstay discussion. It's more that they don't grow proportionately with reach as frame sizes increase. I ride medium bikes, so a common 440mm CS for me is paired with a 450-460mm reach, and makes for a nicely balanced FC:RC ratio.

I wonder (and I'm just thinking out loud) if there is a chance that two wildly different places in the world might have different soil conditions that are affected by weather differently?

The Mille negs are shit. Crashes all the time? This was her first broken bone. A clavicle. Amaury jacked his and was racing soon thereafter. I can’t think of any of the top female DH racers from last year that haven’t spent significant time off of the bike recovering. Tahne, Miriam, Camille, Anna, Marine, Jess, etc. Jackson skrewed himself up in ‘24, Ronan in ‘25. Don’t invite them back? ”Read the Room” is the operative phrase here.

Word! Mille strikes me as being one of the most fearless riders in womens elite. A bit like Ronan's "helicopter or win" -mentality. Only a few other of the women show as much emotion when the results aren't there.

There was a Troy Brosnan Vlog when she was on Canyon where they were riding somewhere in the Alps and she had crazy speed and lines and was comfortably riding with Troy and Dante. Badass shredder!

Just wanted to add a few things and opinions here. I'm a huge Mille fan and a huge fan of all the gals conquering Hardline over the years, so take it as you will. We all have different perspectives. Sure, Mille has had her fair share of crashes, but so have so many others trying to find the speed to...

I disagree with her being a checkers or wreckers rider. At the same time in my mind she (and others) had a 50/50 chance of making it to race day. I think we will be lucky to see more than 2 of the women make it to the finals (hope they all do and crush it). Same with the mens field too. I will be surprised if at least 3 of the men do not make it to finals day. Hardline is crazy and not every rider is going to make it to the final. Absolutely been loving Millies content...
