The thing that annoyed me the most about this whole deal was how it felt like a bad business decision to immediately go behind a paywall. It makes so much more sense to give the new product for free for a year or three to keep people engaged or bring in new people, and then you make it a paid thing. I find it so frustrating when companies don't just ruin things I like, but ruin it poorly. Like at least if you're going to ruin it, ruin it right. The only reason they can ruin it poorly is the...

So they had a gravel trap on the test track for this very reason, I was able to test on paved road and gravel, worked equally well in both situations. I had to do a few runs on the gravel as I didn't trust the ABS, once I had the confidence to brake really hard it was faultless. Obviously flat ground is not representative of real world trail use, so would be keen to use it in anger on some proper trails.

Just a thought: I am the WC commentator for my country. Broadcast has been done today, on Monday, on something like a live replay. I am actually on my way back to my home town, from the main studio. I prepared for 10+30 riders for the finals, with info on bikes, team changes and what not. I think I ended up doing 5+10 at best. Broadcast was sandwiched between snooker and Giro. I am honestly curious what the viewership is on DH compared to snooker and Giro. I don't know what was on when these events were live, but it's...

Oh boy, after all the bashing of 2023 now people want CG back in the booth, shows you can never please everyone. I honestly think commentating a race is a two people job. You bring in a third and then they start tripping on eachother, it is just too fast for three people at the same time (excluding a flash...

article 4.11.014: Protected riders to the semi-final are: 1. riders with season long race numbers (i.e. ranked in the top 5 women elite and the top 10 men elite of the final UCI World Cup standings of the previous season) 2. the best ranked riders from the current UCI World Cup standings, that are not included in point 1 above, until a total of 10 women elite and 20 men elite are reached 3. if any riders as described under 1. and 2. above do not confirm participation at an event they will not be replaced. Protected riders to the...

If the semi finals aren't broadcasted? what the hell is the point in it.

If the semis concept was not pointless enough, the lack of coverage makes the whole thing just silly. It's beyond me the number of riders who will return home on Sunday after a very expensive trip with almost no trace of coverage (thank god for the RAWS and several vlogs on YT) Also, as an spaniard, I still don't know...

The linkage itself is VERY sensitive to adjustments. They could be using a set of different upper links with a few different progression ranges. Alternatively they might have some chip inserts for that same link. I say that link specifically because the point where the dogbone connects has a big influence on the progression AND you can't see the side of it anywhere because it's hidden by the seatmast. FWIW on a factory team I would just have separate links rather than messing about with chips. You can see an example of moving that point on the link below highlighted...

I'm an old guy from Spain. Three years ago I bought and ebike "to do some exercise". There's a small bikepark/trail network near my house. Got into some e-enduro and felt in love with them gravity things, so I started following the DH WC and EWS and got obsessed with all things MTB. Last year I introduced a friend who is s trial-bike guy to the WC and he is now a fan too. Been feeding him snippets from this amazing thread about the "silly season". Yesterday, he asked me:" any news from Mondraker?" Told him "the espionage things were...

Yeah I'll admit I zoomed in on both and matched some key freckles on both hands. Some are not as prominent in the mondraker photo but I'm 99% sure it's him. ... the whole process felt weird as hell haha.

That could be Yeti. By all signs they aren't fielding a DH team this season, but it seems to be in the future. Gwin could be a one man show on the WC scene, with some guest appearances by RR and maybe a Jr or two. He could help with dialing in the new bike, and then be in more of a management/ownership position next year with a full Yeti Factory Team. Gwin has strong ties with Yeti since Houseman first set him up with them to start his career, and Yeti was always a team for the up and...
