I don’t think anyone is saying people shouldn’t be allowed to race because of being quiet off the track. I think the argument might be that they shouldn’t demand as large of a (or any?) salary if they’re quiet and aren’t increasing brand awareness or selling product. My 2 cents is being a full-time paid athlete these days requires some level of demonstrated increase in product sales or brand awareness. Continuing the chat of Danny Hart, I'm also in the camp where he doesn't really come across as much of a "personality" to me, but also not someone who's had particularly great results over the past year. I have a feeling some companies are also just taking a harder look at which riders are really driving sales. You're probably right, but at the end of the day wasn't it his choice to cash out and sell to PON? You can't have it both ways and to me, he comes off as an entitled asshole stuck in his version of "the good ol' days". I don't know how the decision to cut Greg happened, but I think it would be smart build the future of the team around Jackson and there's only so much a brand can budget for a race team. I'm not sure I believe the rumors about Dak Norton and Ronan Dunne on Unno. It seems highly unlikely. Unno doesn't strike me as the kind of company who could afford a DH race team if even brands like GT have to start slashing the budget. Additionally, they don't even have a DH-bike as of right now.

I really hope that Dak and Pinky aren't going to Mondraker. No one has really seemed to kill it on their bikes in a while. I'm hoping that the MS Intense rumors are true for Dak. In his Downtime Podcast appearance, he kept talking about "consistency" being key to his success. If you listen closely, he's not talking about his own consistency (although that's part of it), but having consistency in bike and setup being necessary for his success. That will get cleaned up a bit for production and will have a polycarbonate or similar fairing that is going to snap over it and onto the carbon frame. Won't be super noticeable as you're not going to see the linkage and it won't hang below a 32T chainring.
