10/25/2021 2:51pm I share your sentiment about forgiveness. But I disagree with the excuses listed: just because everyone is doing something does not make it okay to do, and just because something is on television does not make it right. Also, I think it is important to recognize that not everyone of that generation used that word, that many, many people fought against that bigotry (and their fight is why the use of that word and intolerance against the gay community has diminished). Let's remember that Zink is not a victim here, he is not being stoned to death by cancel culture...

10/24/2021 7:11pm i think the issue most have with the situation is that he's still using that word as a grown adult. defending him as if he gets a pass because of some 'pro athlete bubble' or maturing in different ways gives the impression that it's ok for some but not others because of irrelevant situations. he's an adult with a following...

10/24/2021 4:07am Nothing ever seems to be Zinks fault, even when it's something that he does all on his own. I'm more curious about the sponsors that have stuck with him for such a long time. If I'm a bike company, why would I want to sponsor the guy that has done several questionable things on social media, and seems to pretty openly talk shit about past sponsors?

10/19/2021 5:50am Considering the flight attendant stuff is OEM only for the time being it's possible that the launch was when it was because of the new model year bikes that were being shown off at the same time as well.

10/15/2021 5:57am Yet again, we have athletes diagnosing their own concussions (more or less). When I was advocating for some kind of baseline testing (on the Inside Line), this is why I was advocating for it. You can have a mild concussion which is nearly impossible to diagnose without some kind of baseline to refer back to. This unfortunately sets you up to have a much worse concussion if you clap the dome again. I'm not saying every crash is a concussion, but I'd sure treat it like that when your head hits the ground as hard as these guys, again, in...

10/14/2021 1:00pm No wonder he does not have a new sponsor given the fact the he goes on about how the new bikes of his previous sponsor are worse than the old ones :D

10/14/2021 5:48am regarding the whole direct to consumers causing bike shops to shut down conversation. does anyone have any numbers on this, in regards to how shops have been or expect to be effected by this sales model? reason I ask is because when DTC sales started with bigger brands I talked to my shop owner buddy and he said 90+% of...

10/13/2021 4:37pm He had a deal locked in with Hyper and then he dropped his homophobe nonsense on IG. Hyper and shimano dropped him on the spot. Rumor was that he is working on a frame of his own but who knows. Between the homophobia, the street racing stunt and the misogyny oozing out of Sensus I’m surprised the guy has any sponsors at all. Yes cancel culture is bullcrap but when a guy shows time and time again what trash he is he deserves the cancellation.

10/13/2021 4:31pm Exactly this. It seems like professionally he is the problem, and then add to it that socially he is problematic, and we start to get a full picture... not somebody I want to root for. He's been in the business and public eye a long time; I mean, it's never too late, but I would guess we've seen all the "self reflection and personal growth" we're going to get - at this point any mea culpa would just look like a PR stunt.

10/13/2021 4:30pm Being in the public eye as a professional athlete comes with simple responsibilities around decency. You don’t have to be the perfect role model, you just have to be a decent person. Besides this terrible incident, he has posted videos of driving recklessly (cutting double yellows, swerving around people in blind corners) in his Porsche on a known deadly local road for cyclist and motorcyclist. My opinion on the topic is that it needs addressing by his sponsors, bike media, etc. Definitely not a role model for any kids in the sport. Probably not the forum for this so I’ll...

10/13/2021 4:29pm That's the thing, it may only be an isolated case on video, but it is obviously in their vocabulary and happens more often than we see. Now, before everyone gets hot and bothered, we've all said stuff that we regret and would look back and say, "WTF was I thinking." However, we're not in the public eye like Cam and others. And if no one calls him out now, it can happen again....and again.... That's it and all I'll say on the topic. But I will definitely look at Cam a bit more differently after what was shared in this...

10/13/2021 4:18pm Gotcha. Didn't see the video, but did he really use a slur? If so, that needs to be called out by the bike media who were recently talking about the need for diversity, especially after Elliot's video about the racism he's faced.

10/13/2021 4:18pm In the video he says “and someone named Cams bike.” Speaking of this video which has now been removed, Cam shows why he is a sponsor nightmare. Openly using homophobic slurs on his public insta with 353k followers. Add that on top of a decade of bashing past sponsors, I’m surprised no one has canceled this guy yet. Any other sport and this guy would be dropped and black listed.
