5/15/2025 3:52pm Get your flame fingers ready for use, folx. An UnPopular Opinion is ahead: I joked with friends/coworkers that if you ever have a bad day at work just remember that somewhere there's a team of mech designers that had to design and render the cycbertruck. I think one of those designers went over to whomever is making those likely Brembo brakes and used all of their design chops they picked up rendering that poorly laid plan of a vehicle on that MC. Woof!

5/15/2025 12:53pm +2 for me, big big agree. But I’m still waiting for those sweet, sweet slideshows to make a return. Or maybe I just need a Spotify link to that low-tempo, bass-forward track that accompanied the slideshows, so I can cue it up and scroll… Spomer can you make that happen and bring back the old timey feels?

5/13/2025 4:10pm Uh... no. That's precisely why they need to bring the name back. Sometimes companies have iconic and excellent names from years past that would totally apply to their new platform and instead call it something else. Or use the iconic name on an ebike.

5/12/2025 2:05pm Hey I'm back (with Rocky). I might post a bit less here as I navigate current state of the bike industry; I've got a mountain of work to get through after being away from it all for 5 months. Thanks for the well wishes.

5/9/2025 12:18am TL;DR, Fox reported and things are going as planned. No big red flags. Stock is up 9% after hours ontop of an additional 5% intraday. Management was quick to point out inventories are stabilizing and the bike industry might be voyaging into calmer waters, which frankly surprised me. The tariff thing is an overhang, but it feels more like the overhang has to do with the potential we end up in a recession, consumer confidence/spending softens and nobody is buying stuff - they have their ops pretty buttoned up for this sort of thing (it appears). If anyone wants the...

5/7/2025 8:29am I agree. That sentence is bizarre. I'm weirded out by the implication that choosing a longer or shorter chainstay length would be a compromise, but somehow choosing a 438mm chainstay length isn't a compromise? Every geometry decision you make on a bike represents a compromise. They're all trade-offs. Either that, or Canyon and friends have stumbled upon the Platonic ideal of the form "chainstay length." We're all in the cave over here, but at Canyon they've unshackled and transcended bodily existence to discovered the one true form of bike geometry. So meta of them.

kperras Added a reply to ZS Headsets Insert length
5/5/2025 3:10pm Insertion depth is usually a frame specific dimension, but in my experience frame manufacturers follow what the headset drawing requires plus a small buffer, usually a 2-3mm, for ream depth. Head tubes tend to be butted internally so the ID gets slightly bigger after the press fit interface. You should be able to see where the ream ends and measure...

5/5/2025 12:41pm The FSA headset catalog will be your best resource here. They have drawings for all their headsets. Also, if you have enough material, you can shave the head tube down with a facing tool to remove some of the damage.
