4/21/2025 9:58am My name is Luis Arraiz, I am a frame design engineer and specialize in bicycle vehicle dynamics, kinematics and geometry design. I was the founder of K9 Industries Ltd in 2005 in the UK. I worked at CSG (now Pon) from 2015-2023 where I was responsible for the geometry, kinematics and packaging for all the full suspension bikes both analogue and e-bikes for both Cannondale and GT bikes and also several GT hardtails. I introduced the concept of size specific geometry and kinematics for Cannondale dubbed “Proportional Response”. I am now back to the UK, where I am a senior...

4/11/2025 10:43am As somebody who's tested this variable back to back on the same chassis (not two totally different forks), the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Maybe we need to do a fork stiffness deep dive like the excellent frame compliance analysis Burney did. But in short, forks also have roll and wag. Everyone usually thinks of only wag and they test it with the wheel between the legs, but I'd argue this is only a valid indicator of stiffness during full braking on dry pavement. In this situation, the hex axle can offer a small benefit in reducing wag, but in...

4/11/2025 10:23am There are a few people who I eagerly await pre-season race footage of, top of the list is Loic and based on his recent story I'd say we aren't disappointed. New/Raw brake calipers, possibly uncovered rear shock finally, new chainstay, new/kinked seat tube? There's too much and yes I am hoping someone posts the screenshots for me.

4/10/2025 1:14pm I'd imagine that the assembly in Cumberland is a significant enough change to make the bike a Canadian product for importing. Edit: Turns out these were assembled in Asia, forget I said anything

4/9/2025 2:27pm +1 on the horse issue. They’re literally the single most destructive/disruptive user group I can think of (post holing and eroding everything they touch, shitting everywhere, easily scared, etc.) but they get minimal flack as far as I know because the user group is mainly rich old heads that have more influence over public land use in most places. I also think a lot of these issues would be alleviated if local govt/land managers would allow/invest in more mtb specific trails and infrastructure. You look at areas like Bentonville Arkansas, Knoxville, TN and lots of other southern/southeastern cities where mtb...

4/9/2025 2:11pm 27.5+ was on a DT swiss, 35mm. I bought 3 identical nukeproof horizon rims 30.5mm during the chain reaction closing sale for all the other tests, apart from 29x2.8 which I ran on my crankbrothers rim which was the widest I had at 31.3mm. In the data MM looks like the slowest rolling, but it's hard to pick out of Assegai Vs Kryptotal: sector analysis probably agrees with your finding. It's hard to say as they are both compared via a proxy tyre rather than direct back to back, so your findings are probably clearer for straight up rolling resistance.

4/8/2025 10:26am The "innovation" here is that they cut out the sketchy fly by night middle man and allow users to make their bikes illegal for trail use in many markets off the shop floor. At least in British Columbia*, the very fact users can (maybe, if the feature is allowed in Canada; and lets be real dealers can probably unlock it in software) adjust the top speed means that the new Levo is a Motor Vehicle under the Motor Vehicle Act and ceases to meet the definition of a Motor Assisted Cycle - so it isn't legal to use on most...

4/7/2025 1:44pm This is a pretty neat website, thanks for making this! One thought, would it be possible to weight or further segment bicycle brands into 'strictly cycling' and 'somewhat cycling', e.g. Giant is really only a bike company whereas Thule makes other, non-bike related products? We are also at the 5 year 'anniversary' of global shutdowns, so some of those projections are going to start looking weird as we go through the initial market shock into boom (for outdoor sports, anyways). As for price scraping - you could take some of the brand's biggest products (e.g. Stumpjumper/Trance in a mid-tier build...
