7/30/2023 6:58am I've been riding mt5 on my dh bike for years and the lever feel was just sad (heard the same from other people), recently rear lever leaked and I've finally converted to shiguras and its suddenly freaking amazing brake, would reccomend. But there are now many fantastic brake options that do not break the bank, beside already mentioned TRP, Hayes Dominion is also amazing, some 5 friends from my rather large riding group moved to Hayes and all of their brakes have been flawless, amazing feel on the lever and great power.

7/29/2023 4:10pm Hey Jesse, I know you're a trained engineer and you're probably smarter than me and work for SRAM and I'm just some guy, but I've read that the SRAM Transmission does not use electronics to sense the shift gates in the cassette in order to sync the derailleur movements to match in time. Instead, the shift movement of the derailleur cage is instantaneous when you hit the button, and the delay you observe is from the chain waiting for a shift gate in the cassette to travel through the gate and change gears. The pronounced shift gates in the cassette...

7/29/2023 4:09pm I'm getting it from reading people's inexperienced opinions and you're also making my point. It DOES NOT have to be electronic to shift "well" and if you read those who have experience it's not "perfect shifting every time." That would be the SRAM marketing dept. Durability on the other hand does seem to set it apart which is certainly not electronic dependent.

7/29/2023 4:08pm I don't know where you're getting that from. The electronics help the derailleur shift as soon as there is a shift ramp, so it's a perfect shift every time. The mechanical drivetrain will work, but it won't work as well.

7/29/2023 4:05pm This is exactly what happens. When the shock is sitting too deep the front gets unloaded and you can't maintain enough weight on the front tire contact patch to engage corners properly. You can fake it a bit with body position but in the end you will always be fighting the shock. A ballpark estimate is for every 9kg of body weight I would be increasing 50lb/in of spring rate on coils. The other major component of rear end support (and therefor overall grip and balance) is shock damping. Plenty of bikes are shipping with very light rear shock tunes that...

7/29/2023 4:05pm Losing the front becomes a self fulfiling prophesy. You wash the front, so lose confidence, so start hanging off the back, so lose grip......so wash the front.

7/23/2023 5:38am Hi, i was inspired by your project and made my own (only fork) suspension analyzer. I think using a rotary encoder is the best way to make this a low-cost project. So far I have only checked that the hardware I prototyped works and it does. In the future, the software part will have to be developed better. Anyway, I leave here some photos and a link to a blog-like (no advertising) where I have documented the project. It is: luigicennini.it/en/projects/fork-telemetry/ (sorry it does't me let post proper link) There is also an italian version (as i see op of...

7/11/2023 3:57am In regards to amount of travel specifically - you will usually settle on less sag for shorter travel forks one way or another Oh one thing I feel important to point out - most of us mtb suspension guys are predominantly or entirely self taught so we are always still learning. While I disagree with some peoples opinions, a lot of them are very clever and overall do an excellent job. There are also likely a lot of gaps in the things I've learned, so I will always be open to learning new things too!
