I personally think the DH World cup has much more media attention than the EWS. The format of having 1 timed run on race day is almost perfect for the television. I do watch influencers on YouTube and Instagram, but in my opinion they cover a different segment. And yes, of course Downhill bikes are only for a small group of people and are not sold as much as other categories, but this is mainly too to the very limited availability of Bikeparks in most region of the world. In my opinion, the social (esp IG) influencer personality and content has a shelf life. People are going to catch on to how disingenuous it is, and it’s going to become more and more transparent how ‘advertisey’ it is. When we make a move to work with someone of any stature, be it mega pro to local ripper / good person their social reach is far from a metric we place value on. It might seem ridiculous but we place human contact and interaction value so far beyond any social bs. I find it a shame that so many companies...

Riding in Australia, I try and keep snakes out of my mind, but carry a bandage and a mobile phone. The current thinking is: If you don’t move after being bitten, the venom doesn’t move and you have almost unlimited time to get to universal antivenin. The venom moves in the lymphatic system, not the blood. The recommendation is “don’t even move enough to roll your pant leg up”. If someone else is there, binding the limb in a firm bandage (over any clothing) further reduces the chance of the venom spreading. We have something like 7 of the worlds...

Is there really any good reason for Yeti to sink a bunch of money into a DH program? If they want to waste that kind of cash, I'll simply send them my address... Send me a bunch of bikes and a paycheck and I'll guarantee almost zero return on investment..

I really enjoyed the video. Coworkers and other people frequently ask me what they should get and I never know what to recommend. This will be a good resource for those situations. Also makes me reflect a little on how spoiled I've become with having to have perfect everything and chasing that. I still love riding but perhaps times were simpler (and maybe better?) when I could only afford a $1,200 bike and hand-me-down tires.
