Having run plenty of demo days I'd say it's about 30% just having a go on an expensive bike for free, 20% just telling you what is wrong with the bike, 20% "just confirming that my bike IS better", 20% "I'm thinking of replacing my 2011 bike in the next 3-5 years" , 9% having one of the bikes on a shortlist but "I'm going to buy whatever I get the best deal on" and 1% actually going on to buy something from the demo. A couple a year was more than enough to never want to do it again.

thanks man. You need the custom chainstays. I managed to fit a 29 rear wheel in the stock CS but you couldnt run aything bigger then a road tire

New Gen2 Dorado 37mm with drop dual bolt crown and special mudguard, only in Comp configuration tho. Listed directly on hayes/Manitou website and some other online stores.

Sinyard did actually publicly apologise for those trademark/copyright sagas. Iirc they did resolve those cases too. How much knowledge he had of, and during them is a debatably hazy subject though. I really disliked them for buying Horst link and calling it FSR. Very shrewd business but shitty practice. I avoided them like the plague during that period, but thankfully live in the UK where it wasn’t too much ofban issue. That said I doubt the split pivot and vpp/maestro/dw-link variants would’ve been so prolific if Horst was public.

You’re getting downvoted but as an owner of the exact Patrol you describe I wholeheartedly agree. I use my dropper pedaling back to the truck and take a sip of water every other lap. The paint on that Marin is stellar though and the price is even more stellar! I’d own it if I was a casual who isn’t comfortable tinkering with over shocking/forking, Cascade Links, and anglesets. (needed on Patrol/Spire with dual crown imo)

The marin DH bike looks like everything l want in a DH bike but I am a little bummed with the price. Maybe I'm just being a negative cunt, but I feel like an aluminum 4 bar DH bike from a budget company should cost less than 5k.
