11/28/2024 6:16pm Those pedals are cool, I would love to try some. They kind of remind me of something I've seen before...

11/27/2024 6:57am I haven’t been able to dig into the article, yet. I’d be curious if it includes a meta analysis that might detect trends in the factors around the incidents. Types of trails, experience level of riders, type of protection in use or not present, etc.. If we are going to try to mitigate risks, it would be helpful to understand factors that might increase or decrease it.

11/25/2024 5:15am regarding the durability of the outlier pendulum or void pedal, Andrew Major has a set of each and has a good track record when he was at NSMB and Bike Mag (only writes at his own blog for now https://meatengines.com/ ) for long term review and teardown so if long term issue should arise we will most likely hear about it. And yes those pedals have 2 6902 bearing per pedals and a chunky looking steel axle that needs to be properly torqued to 30nm for correct preload on those bearings. So not a pedal for the frequent parking lot...

11/25/2024 5:15am The best thing about those pedals for me would be how they should eliminate the need to replace bent and snapped pins after almost every ride (I suck and lots of rocks around here). I can't buy canadian made though because there is always a risk some of my money will end up supporting canadian hockey.

11/24/2024 4:53pm Same lol. I've always wished for a flat pedal with angled pins so that when your heels are dropped, the pins are perpendicular to the ground. Don't know if that even contributes to better grip but I really wish somebody would test that theory.

11/24/2024 4:50pm The Pendulum pedals join the MRP Noken as another recent product release fulfilling my MTB fever dreams. Stuff I wished for but didn't think would ever actually exist.

11/23/2024 3:31pm Wouldn't it be funny if all we had to do to smooth out our mtb ride was to add rubber bushings to your shock bolts and a few suspension pivots 😅

11/22/2024 8:48am @SteveClimber great explanations of the pros of 2 wheel steering and grip, that's a great way to think about it and leaves us with some goals we can focus on for frame/wheel system flex. As you mention, the balance is key. Between frame and wheel flex, I think one question is which one lets you control the direction of the tire’s contact patch better and does one spring back less? We’ve talked about using frame flex to help steer the rear wheel, but when the wheels flex in a berm, what direction do they point? You can probably design 2...

11/22/2024 8:45am Thanks for the post (and noting the broken link). I just took care of it. As to the questions... 1) Its pretty light. The low variant has a smaller magnet and weighs ~66 grams (total) whereas the medium and tall variant have larger magnets and weigh ~88 grams (total). These are untrimmed numbers. 2) While pedaling, there is zero additional friction. Pedaling forces always pull the chain off the magnet (immediately, you will not notice it). Also, while in the higher part of your cassette (say, climbing) the magnet is further from the chain and the force significantly weaker, which...

11/21/2024 7:04am This - Sports Direct (Mike Ashley..) bought it all up. They also operate Evans Cycles - if you go to their site you'll see some bits and pieces but its not a great shop. General view is that Mike Ashley is a parasite and tends to strip anything of value from his stores - Evans Cycles used to be a well respected family run group of shops, with good quality kit.. Not anymore. I'd be surprised if he isnt trying to sell the NP branding and IP as it actually has value, but he'll probably want more than its actually...

11/21/2024 7:03am The only thing a little disappointing with the zink bike is the shortest reach being 464. For a freeride bike i think something a little shorter in the 450 range would have been ideal. Im only 5'9" and can ride 460 reach but for a play bike it would be a little bit much
