10/27/2025 4:42am I noticed yesterday that I've managed to kink my rear brake hose on my DHR Evos in 2 places - one at the junction into the head tube (from swapping forks out..) and the other at the entrance to the levers (from my light pushing it in that place). Never had hoses kink before, could it be that the TRP...

10/25/2025 12:51am Oh come on What are you doing swapping wheels every other day? I call bullshit to all this superboost hate I agree 148 for everyone would be the best thing But if you’ve got a superboost bike with a nice set of wheels I really don’t see the point in wanting to swap stuff around constantly Get legos to do that Almost 5 years into owning a superboost bike and I’ve never had once an issue with it Once I sent a wheel for warranty and just borrowed a DH one for the weekend, 0 issues there too

10/20/2025 9:58am How am I chatting shit I said I like him but I’m a realist and just giving my view, I want him on a good team and I think he should move and it should be the a US team. He’s a patriot and FM is the coolest fit for him with Neko, Asa and Anna, full US team I think they would do well in the team overall and I personally believe Asa will have loads to say about the overall for himself.

10/19/2025 3:37am Listen to you getting butt hurt because I’ve an opinion. He only specified MOTO in his statement but he has a massive pit bike track on his land that he rode every day in off season with his friends and when it first came out it was said he did it on a pit bike! Yeah you can get hurt doing anything in life but a broken hip socket it’s hard to do so moto of any kind increases that risk and as I said if you are a big team and your rider gets hurt for most of the...

10/19/2025 3:36am So much chat about Dak, he’s 33, has had 5 podiums in his career (UCI DH) not exactly lighting the world on fire. Lets face it we love him because he’s an under dog and his comeback this year was awesome BUT, his injury was his own fault messing about on pit bikes at his home, if you are a big team and your rider injures themselves like that messing about on pit bikes you’d be asking questions. Before coming at me saying all DH racers ride moto in the off season yes I know but a pit bike is...

10/7/2025 9:23am I quite enjoy the Oak lever. the stiffer lever feeling helps a bit (IMO) and almost feels like there is more power with less force while pulling hard on the brakes. in Canada Pro MCs are quite expensive with tariff and everything so made more sense for me going with Oak. Having less free stroke would be a nice upgrade tho.

10/7/2025 12:48am Is there much power difference? I’ve got a set of DH-Rs and trying to decide between either Oak or Freedom levers, or just getting a pair of Pro MCs..

10/5/2025 1:46pm Edit: Apologies if this is repetitive to others reading this, I just wanted to try and be clear. And I forgot to add, building community is hard. An app does nothing by itself, but the infrastructure an app provides create the opportunity to more easily scale something that is like community. This isn't field of dreams, and building it alone does not solve the problem. But its a start. Quick clarification: This isn't Strava with privacy - yes, it has similar features with respect to activity tracking and navigation but it's also organized race events, multiple formats, varying timing windows...

10/5/2025 1:45pm Two points of clarification: First - the use case: This isn't competing with professional timing systems. Those will always be better for sanctioned events, and that's great. This fills the gap between Strava segments and weekend races - think Thursday night softball, not the championship game. It's rec-league MTB/moto where renting timing equipment is a non-starter, but showing up with the device in your pocket is totally feasible. We've already proven this works in our town, but again, there are holes (and big privacy concerns). Second - accuracy requirements: For rec-league, ±1.5 seconds is fine. With 50-100 participants running longer...

10/5/2025 12:57am I feel like forward looking (hell, even time window-limited) segments fit nicely with your stated goal of a racing app. One of the main reasons why I don't pay attention really to PRs/KOMs on Strava are that trails change over the years, speed changes with seasonal conditions, not to mention all the times when my PR was determined by a GPS glitch pushing me 50' down the hill for the whole attempt. I would suggest being able to re-use old course maps for new races/windows though (basically a seasonal leaderboard in video gaming terms).

10/3/2025 11:19am Happy two-year anniversary. @jeff.brines got on the horn with @TEAMROBOT and I to discuss what's happened in the bike industry over the last two years. The podcast is below, but I can't thank all of you enough for such an incredible discussion. The knowledge and courtesy in this thread makes me proud to be involved with Vital, and as I say a few times in the podcast, this thread in particular has felt like receiving a free education. We all hope anyone who has lost a bike industry job in the last two years is back on their feet or...

10/3/2025 11:16am This whole lawsuit is bizarre to me. One of the most insane cases of biting the hand that feeds, I'd imagine that over 75% of Strava users are importing ride/run data from a Garmin device. Strava's whole model is an aggregate that is reliant on third party metrics being imported in. Garmin could put the plug right now and make people choose between a device/software that accurately tracks multiple key metrics for training, or a glorified social media platform. I think the anyone with a pulse will take Garmin over Strava. Lest we forget last year when Strava bullied Trailforks...

10/3/2025 11:15am Thanks on this. Initial read from council is if I keep segments as forward looking only (after segment creation, it processes a time for the ride segment was based on but there is no retroactive processing on old er rides) and I use a different matching algorithm (which I've already done) I'm likely okay. Not sure how people feel about that, but from my perspective this is tolerable. I wonder what others think... Segments are important but the goal is to scaffold something better for our more specific use case. I want to see people build virtual races that are...

10/3/2025 8:14am Have you seen this? https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/10/strava-sues-garmin-demands-stop-sel… What seems to be the key part on segments is: "Now, what’s notable here is that Strava existed (with users creating segments) from 2009, and thus, it’s a bit strange that Strava had a two-year gap here before they got around to filing a patent on it. This is well beyond the typical 1-year grace...

10/3/2025 8:08am Just a short note re warranties - I had a chat with a carbon rim supplier a couple of years ago when discussing warranties, from what the supplier implied, they take out an insurance policy for each rim. The premium was only a small amount per rim - around £30-£40. It wasn't annual either, it was a simple one-off payment.
