Finn is freshly 27. Which is why no one is talking about him retiring. Tahnee is early 30s. Which is when most mtb pros have traditional started to look at hanging it up. I said " we haven't seen a long travel single crown 32" fork yet," and I can see how that might have been unclear. What I meant to communicate was "Gee, that black RSU fork sure doesn't look like a Fox 32 or Neko's crazy loctite Fox 40, which are the only 32" Fox forks we've seen so far. I wonder what RSU fork that is. It sure looks like a Fox, and it could even be a dedicated long travel single crown 32" fork from Fox, which would be newsworthy because 32" bikes and products from the big brands...

The number one challenge for any brand in the Motorsports or bike world is to get someone to actually have tried your product. We are a wierd subset of gear heads. I’m sure the majority of us have spent cash purely to try something they never intended to own just to try the tech. And plenty of us have interests in spending money to try something from a brand we have zero personal experience with. I don’t think anything’s changed tbh, Finn took most of last year off to properly recover and spent the whole winter riding and on good health, Jordan having Nico there as a coach is obviously going to help. If anything if Loic wasn’t injured it would mean just more Specialized team riders in the top 5

Not trying to be a hater here, but I don't believe that ebike anything will ever be the pinnacle of mountain biking. To expand on this further I think unfortunately the format you laid out has some fundamental flaws. First if the bikes are too light riders will just carry or throw the bike up unmanageable obstacles on the climb portion, defeating the whole hard enduro side of the racing quickly. I'm completely against flipping start order for any petty overall series interest. Times are so stupidly tight now that 30th can win. It's a FALSE stacking of riders in hopes of building a fictitious momentum. The courses get better sometimes for the last few racers. Sometimes it gets worse for the last few racers. Fractions of seconds spaced out over a 1, 2, 3 hour time span in variable weather & lighting conditions. All splitting hairs in the final. The days of dictating a countdown to fastest run are over. Another great podcast. Anyone else here happy about J. Schroeder's increased prominence at Vital? It's nice to think that Spomer has some good support from a smart, conscientious second. I’ve also got a +4 ape index, 36 inch inseam, masssssifff quads and chiseled jawline. All of which brings me to the most annoying dumb bike problem of all time. You ever hit your knees on the bars of a mountain bike while your trying to win a tech climbing contest with some local legend you shouldn’t even be riding with? 535 reach was a godsend for that. Hottake, The new Q1 and Q2 formats are great and I much prefer it over rider protected status as its probably the most fair way to narrow the field down. Does it mean some really popular riders lose out? Yep. Does it also mean that seasonal consistency is more rewarded in WC overall standing points? Also yes. Seems odd to have both protected riders AND riders trying to qualify all in one group. It's either we lock the field to the same 30 riders for each race or everyone needs to qualify for finals. Great question. To your point, I think the cannibalism is worse than that, because instead of wanting multiple pedal bikes for different sorts of pedal days with granular differences between each model, one ebike is pretty much fine for everything. In the past, as a MTB pedaler, I would have loved to have at least three mountain bikes: a long travel enduro bike, a shorter travel trail bike, and maybe a hardtail or XC bike. Maybe more. I have no issue with software teams using "agile" in whatever the original context was. I have issues with what it became in the corporate world. Over my year long in-house counsel contract, I think I attended 4-5 mandatory "agile" training seminars, and it featured heavily at our multi-day retreat. To this day I'm not really sure what it means, except that the "agile coaches" sound like new-age grifters when given a microphone in front of a crowd of people that are mandated to be there.
