DH casing hard compound rear tyre Light pants with a tiny d3o layer, or even just multiple layers of soft material over the knee to prevent scratches. I'm convinced this can work, despite trying to build my own version which is not very comfortable or protective...

I wish there were fewer tiers of products to choose from and more emphasis on personalization within a product range for different sorts of customers. I don't think the average person benefits much from upgrading to GX, SLX, XT, XTR, XO or XX, but I think the average person benefits A LOT from the right head tube length, handlebar rise, chainstay lengths, frame flex characteristics, tire casing, damper tunes, spring rates, grip diameter, etc for their weight, body size, and riding style. The number of SKU's bike companies already have to juggle is ridiculous, so I think it goes without...

Id put 6 of your watery american beers on you not being able to notice the difference between a 25mm or 30mm wide rim in a blind test. Ill provide all thats required, you just need to show up and prove me wrong to win your 6-pack (my comment is meant as sarcasm, I mean no offence, other than to try and add a little levity) As a reminder to all of us, What the pros do, and use, has little to no bearing on what works in the real world of owner maintained, and hack ridden bikes at half...

Man, wish it went up to 170mm travel. The older 36 was stiff enough for 170mm, and this one claims to be 19% stiffer.

what about applying it drunk the night before a ride, spilling half the lube on the floor then wiping the excess off the chain with a rag which is my current go to method?

Left, wait no Right. I intentionally swap my forward foot to get used to it and hopefully lessen any side to side strength imbalances from riding.

Don't be sad. I struggle to wrap my head around inflation too. Sometimes I find it helpful to recalibrate like this: Adjusted for inflation the MSRP of a 2012 Sworks Stumpjumper FSR would be $2,494.63 more than the MSRP of a 2024 Sworks Stumpjumper FSR. Adjusted for inflation the MSRP of the most affordable 2012 FSR would be $748.51 more than the MSRP of their most affordable 2024 full suspension. i.e. prices have actually fallen, over 20%; while bikes have certainly improved, significantly. There are still big innovations like what I'm doing, or Lal, Trust, or ebikes; and there were...

Just entertain the thought that maybe, just maybe, the bike is really holding the 35-50 y/o dads back, but in a different way than you might think. Most bikes are designed and developed for and with 25 +/- y/o, fit, incredibly skilled pro riders. That is not me and most others on here are not on that level as well. So that is why trying to emulate a setup that pro riders use and the bike industry sells as the cool new stuff to have might in reality be holding back the average rider. I am not saying this is...
