Speaking as a person who has lived/worked in countries with right-wing populist dictators, I would actually welcome the chance to live in California.

This weather is actually my reasoning for considering a move too....and Im in NorCal also. I never understood why people would want to live in SoCal to begin with unless you are into watersports and live coastal or in the southern sierras. Inland empire is a hell hole, so it surprises me not at all that people want to move away from that dumpster fire. @chaseii - I was under the impression that everyone you knew died from vaccine complications? Glad to hear you made some new friends already! I hear Texas is just starting to get really nice this...

I’m planning my departure too, but it isn’t based on politics. It’s based on the weather…why the hell doesn’t it rain here, the trails have been dusty for months. Yes, we get the occasional big storm: localized flooding, power outages, the rare thunder and lightning…

okay this just in: my elderly mother is holed up in her beach house, operating a pirate radio station for the resistance...at least that's what I take it to mean when she reported "oh, just trying to learn this ipad mini." My brother and his family report that they're "having a normal day" on the west side of LA...which probably means that they have a soccer practice or two after school and will probably grill in the backyard for dinner...yeah, sounds like they've been swallowed up by the tyrannical government too. thank you for your vigilance, soldier!

As a follow up to the earlier post, I am now clear of the cancer(I consumed so much green stuff)thanks to my wife’s care and cooking still got the COPD & it’s getting worse. Along with the heart it’s been scary to say the least. Probably the worst mistake was listening to the doctors telling me no exercise that screwed me worse. So it’s walking until it hurts then start walking again carrying a can of Boost Oxygen with me while walking or riding, on a bike path all this only being done with my wife being with me in...

Literally two posts apart: "but at least it is better looking than the M29." "Shame, since that Cero m29 was one of the best looking bikes of the last 10 years" Beauty is in the eye of the bee holder, or something like that I guess.

Look at that, this thread has stuck its head so far up its own ass, we're back on topic: ... the vaccine pass is not restricted to vaccination. Under the law that took effect on Monday, anyone who has proof they tested positive within the previous six months is exempt from having to show a vaccine pass. https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/france-bars-unvaccinated-rest…

JCL get your facts right first before posting. Vaccines reduce transmission, greatly reduce mortality, and Omicron is way way more deadly than the Flu. Fear based? Not fear for me. Trying to keep the elderly and immunocompromised safe and oh and it would be nice if I could get into the hospital if I happened to break my arm you know while mountain biking.

The people yelling government overreach wouldn't likely be shouting then, but a whole bunch of other people would. Preventing Muslims from racing is simple discrimination without any grounds. Enforcing vaccinations in a pandemic is at least debatable, it has a positive end game. Preventing people from participation based on race/religion doesn't have a positive end game. As for mortality rate, I'm guessing you'd still have a ton of vocal people even with a 100 % death rate. 'Just don't catch it, why do we have to vaccinate'. BTW, I'm REALLY interested in how many antivaxxers (the diehard ones, that don't...

Uhhh, the general population should choose get the vaccine (healthy lifestyle of not) to stop their elderly relatives with the risky conditions you describe from dying when you pass it on to them. (June 2020); https://www.ageuk.org.uk/discover/2020/06/coronavirus-risk-for-older-people-updated/ FWIW, UK adults are 84% double vaccinated (64% boosted) and I've not heard of anyone's limbs falling off/multiplying in their sleep. The UK was hit hard by Covid prior to vaccines - around 1 in 12 over 80s in the UK had already died of Covid by January 2021 (about 1 months after vaccines began rolling out here). One year into the...

There are more factors than just vaccine or no vaccine, in Canada, around 90% of deaths from covid were in people with pre-existing chronic conditions, around 80% of deaths were in people 65 or older. Dementia and alzheimer was highest in older people followed by high blood pressure, in people 45 and under obesity, nervous system disorders and diabetes. An aging and unhealthy population looks like a pretty direct link to deaths so why aren't governments pushing people to live healthier lifestyles? More lives would be saved by banning fast food and cigarettes than making the covid vaccine mandatory. That's...
