A distinction needs to be made between a pedal assist and a "throttle bike". With a pedal assist you don't go roosting around and riding uphill at the same speed you descend and the negative impact on a trail is about the same as any other mtb. Bikes where you can simply throttle up and blast away fall more into the e-motor bike category for me and I whole heartedly agree that they don't belong on no-motorized trails.

Happy with my rc's. Almost as grippy as 5/10 stealth. They get stuck on pretty well. I like the fit a bit better. Similar but not as wide around the toes. The d30 foot bed is super comfy. If they hold up ill be buying another pair

I seem to recall an industry insider mentioning that some of the battery/motor companies and maybe large bike companies were looking in to offering 'rentable' batteries for cross-oceanic customers. I don't think there were any specific details, but it would be something like registering your system with Bosch and then being able to fly to Europe and rent a battery from a Bosch distribution centre (through a bike shop most likely) and then returning it before flying back. For sure, make it so that the battery will not last the whole race or close to and the rider has to strategize the battery power VS human input. Make the course consume the battery power.

As long as there is a level playing ground- I don't understand the hate. Make it like a hard enduro motorcycle race (where it's a struggle to finish and keep the bike in one piece). I think the tech climbing sections could be pretty cool.

I know it hard for some people to except a new sport, but eMTB is completely different then MTB. I own a MTB, eMTB and street fighter motorcycle and enjoy riding all of then, but they are all different forms of 2-wheel riding. Trail access is a issue today in the USA, but that will change over time. I think your comment about riding etiquette is a good one, but I have seen a lot of 20, 30, 40 year old guys on MTBs that don't give a damm on who is coming uphill when they are plowing downhill, can...

I live and ride in so-cal, estimated 4m in SD county, 4m in OC, 10m in LA, a lot of people! Unless you ride a trail area on a saturday morning, in one of the most populated places in America, you rarely see people. I don't understand all this "traffic" chatter is about, I don't see it-in so cal.
