I changed my team to not include Asa, in hopes that he does well and wins the overall.

We could be watching the overall decided in qualifying and it’s UNTELEVISED ☠️☠️☠️

Yeah wondering what happened Asa before split 1... Jackson must have had some sort of crash issue after split 1 so many big guns into Q2... if only we could watch this live on tv

Wyn's IG shows Asa's airbag still partially inflated as he enters the finish bowl.

asa's first split was 7 seconds off pace. had to be a mistake up top.

Q2 is gonna be a thriller

i'm sweating for this q2 and it aint just cuz its almomst 100 degrees outside...

That’s it, Shaft driven bikes. Shafted Purse 2028, I’m calling it now.

How does the Red bull contract work. Everyone always seems to be surprised and are they surprised that they're getting the helmet after they already signed with Red bull, are they putting on a show, or have their manager signed them as a surprise and they actually don't know until the helmet pops out.

Half speculating and half vague memories: the contract is signed a month or so beforehand, but the helmet handover event is a surprise. The timing is key, and bullseye perfect here: Aletha has the overall wrapped, A-Aron hands over the helmet before qualies at the last race on home soil. Chef’s kiss. 😘 👌🏻

Just an educated guess here, but someone on the board or in leadership wanted a world class sporting event to happen to show they are still capable of hosting world level sporting events basically. It happens that mountain bike racing was the lowest hanging fruit in that regard so they pursued that avenue. Ski resorts and probably definitely places that have hosted the Olympics in the past get weird about their legacies and proving they still have something to offer.

You’re not the only one wondering that.

my question is not how, but why. Why is Whiteface interested in spending so much money on a World Cup when there is minimal mountain biking infrastructure in Lake Placid and no bike park? Why did they spend all of that money, then bungle the permits and build a substandard course which they lost or gave up a portion of?

They got the first one because they bid on it, the second one because it was a multi year contract.

Forgive me if this was discussed last year, but why is the course so short? Was it a land use issue? NIMBYism? I remember doing a race back in the day, 2008ish? At Whiteface that was like 10 minutes long. I think they even did a chainless race and some of the top pros were actually faster on their chainless runs.

Some pics from lawlor on the lift up

Hopefully it will be so bad it will make for some really entertaining racing

Vital RAW from today. surprising more interesting that i thought it'd be based on helmet cams LOL
