In a regular bike you have one big bearing for the crank. Using an idler wheel means you have a second mounting point including additional bearings that have a certain resistance when spinning. So the resistance from bearings is roughly doubled compared to a non-idler-bike. I really don't see how an electronic suspension could improve this.

The reason flight attendant has a huge uptake in XC is because SRAM sponsored teams are required to run it. I know four different world cup athletes and they have all said they would just prefer a manual lockout. When it works properly it's alright but it's heavy and frequently has connectivity problems between all the components. It seems more casual users like it with one less thing to think about while riding and the weight doesn't matter to a more casual rider. As for trail/enduro bikes, ever wonder why every single SRAM EWS athlete stopped riding LYRIK and started...

Yes, but I think other people in this thread have clearly explained why those efficiencies don't offer any unique benefits to high pivot, gearbox, or idler-based designs. Yes, electronics would make high pivot, gearbox, and idler-based bikes more efficient, but at the same time they'd be making all the other bikes more efficient, too. If Dave has four apples and Lisa has six apples, and you give them both four apples, Lisa still has more apples than Dave. Now, I guess if you're saying that electronic lockouts give them both the equivalent of 100 additional apples, then I would concede...

"Pedal efficiency" is usually shorthand for anti-squat. Drivetrain drag and pedal bob are separate effects, so in short, I doubt it. Assuming I've understood your question.

I think it's just a byproduct of going to a monotube with a shimmed base valve, less adjustment range than a twin-tube. The base valve needs to be matched properly with the main piston tunes. New aftermarket 26/27 DHX2 comes with CL70 compression tune, which is middle of the road. Most of the factory OE tunes I have seen seem to be softer. You can definitely feel more oil moving through the system, than the older twin tube DHX2.

What a sticky situation. Surprised by some of the characters wrapped up in it. Will we get yet another statement, or will the newly named party stay quiet?

Statement from the founder of VHS who sold the company to RideWrap. TLDR: owner of Dyedbro is a scumbag To the MTB Community, Back in February, when I first saw the Dyedbro "SHUSH" hit the market, I made some heated comments on social media. I was operating on raw emotion after seeing a product I poured my life into get repackaged by the very people who actively sabotaged my company. Today, the dust has settled, I have the documented receipts, and I want to lay out the exact timeline of what happened. I started Velocity Hucking Systems (VHS) to solve...

Reading the article on PB this is more interesting than what is being reported... According to DYEDBro there are 3 main points, with point 1 being: " 1) The co-owner of Dyedbro is also the co-owner of VHS. His partner at VHS attempted to sell the VHS assets out from under him without notice, consent or approval in violation of the VHS shareholder agreement and the law." If true then that does put a different light on this... Could be an interesting one to look into further, but I doubt we'd ever get to see either the shareholder agreement or...

It will almost certainly have belts in it... from an engineering perspective, it's too simple of a solution to not go after it here. That would have weight, packaging and service cost advantages that will seem like value adds to the consumer in the white paper phase. One of them could wise up and devise a rekluse style clutch system... but I believe that will be too complicated to keep running properly with the tolerances and the fact that these motors aren't just spinning at a semi-consistent RPM to create forward drive. IIRC, the belts on the levo's were cogged...

For years people have been asking for MGUs from SRAM and Shimano and there has long been speculation that those brands didn’t get involved because they didn’t want to undermine their own market share of expensive, high wear components. In doing so they’ve left their flank wide open for a Chinese company to swallow up the drivetrain market while solving issues riders have complained about for decades. Horrific miscalculation from the drivetrain cartel.

Lee from Ride 886 here. A primary goal when designing the TopHat was to address what we felt were limitations with the products currently available aftermarket. Namely, reducing unnecessary internal volume as much as possible, adding additional tuning option that are decoupled from the pressure ratio, purposely not designing around a predetermined ratio or theoretical spring curve, creating a modular design that can be adapted cheaply to a new fork purchase whenever possible, adding value for customers by manufacturing and including a quality installation/removal tool, including replacement seals and publishing all other o-ring specs, building a robust website with easy...

You can change the effective piston stroke, the initial volume it takes up in the fork, and the internal volume of the unit itself (to alter the ramp characteristics). It is not limited to a specific travel like the other options are if you want to change air springs. And it comes with a top cap socket tool. A true puzzlers delight! 😊 I'm hoping they'll make one for Intend forks at some point. The Linearizer option Intend makes is quite limited in comparison.

I think Avinox reached out to the brands that showed bikes today and asked them if the would develop some frames to showcase it. It sounds like there's still a bit of work to be done to have it market ready but one of the main Avninox guys expressed a desire to have it to market in 2027.
