Hey all, I can finally take off my very sneaky blue tape camouflage to reveal that yes, I’m reviewing the new Nomad. Because I’ve spent so many years on the old Megatower, I’m framing this as a Megatower vs. Nomad comparison. Especially interesting for me because of the rumors that the Megatower is going away and the new Nomad does not take 29” rear wheels. I only have a couple rides in on the new bike, but so far the geometry feels really good and the bike feels solid and stout. Weirdly I haven’t been able to figure out the...

You're missing the point. For a two pound penalty you can have double the range. You can set your avinox to a low eco mode and have the same gentle assistance. The first time you try and go on a ride with your full power ebike friends on your TQ you'll understand that it just makes so much more sense to have a bike that can do both

This forum is for discussing anything related to the 2027 RockShox Zeb fork (B1 models). Feel free to ask questions , leave helpful tips for setup/service, or provide notes about how the fork has worked for you. RockShox has completely overhauled its Zeb fork for model year 2027. They took what they learned developing the latest Boxxer and applied many of the same technologies and tuning ideologies to their single-crown gravity fork. Everything is new with the Zeb, from the chassis to the damper and air spring, to the external adjustments. Below is a deep dive into all the changes...

The remaining RockShox forks and shocks are finally officially live: Zeb - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/2027-rockshox-zeb-fork-tech-info-im… Lyrik and Super Deluxe - https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/first-look-my27-rockshox-lyrik-fork-a… Vivid - https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/rear-shocks/rockshox/vivid-ultim… There is a lot of trickle down tech that was first released with Boxxer and Vivid Coil. My time has been most spent on the new Zeb, and it's been really really impressive. So much grip, really light off the top and easy on the hands, new ABO adjustment is really useful and impactful, and the fork has felt the same day in and day out. It's definitely linear, so has a different feel. More muted and calm...

Let me introduce you to my friend shimano... lol Dominions have kind of the worst of both worlds, lots of lever travel and a short ramp that goes from initial bite to rear tire lockup very quickly. Ride T4V4's and Dominions back-to-back in steep loose over loose conditions and you will appreciate the power and control that the hopes gift you with less lever travel. Don't get me wrong I like my dominions; my 2 primary bikes run both the T4V4's and A4's, but the A4's are not easy to keep from locking up in situations where the hopes have...

It would be amazing if they did 11sp for e-bikes. 12 is just not meant for them with the extra power but I want to be able to stand on my eebs derailleur.

I agree, but I also think I disagree. Wouldn't the benefit of better pumping come from the chainstay growth, and not from the pedal kickback? For starters, I 100% agree that chainstay growth creates a better pumping bike when the chain is on, and by "chainstay growth," I'm referring to the move of the rear axle away from the bottom bracket that requires the chain to get longer. Idlers allow manufacturers to fine tune the amount of chain growth independent of axle path, whereas before they were always linked directly. Now you can have a rearward axle path, but a...

Have you completely given up trying to genuinely contribute in these forums? I haven’t seen a post in weeks that has a positive connotation or actually adds to the conversation. Please don’t turn this place into a pinkbike comment section.

Then the GR4 with the Power levers are a great alternative Less fiddly than the mavens, look way better, nicely build, way easier to bleed and service, nicer tolerances, plenty of power, more modulation

Sweet! I mentioned this in another post, repeating it here: I really enjoyed Troyden talking through all the steps/details involved in getting the Crestline frames into production. That whole side if things is a bit of a black box to me and it was really cool to learn a bit more about it. I'd love a multi-segment deep dive on it, especially on weird/unexpected details (like Troyden figuring out one particular production line in the factory turned out a better product than the others, and why that was); stuff you can only learn from experience.

Great question! I think there's a simple suspension principle that applies here, that as rider speeds and trail speeds go up, rebound should get faster. As speeds go down, rebound should slow down as well. And I think that decision to speed up or slow rebound comes down to two things: packing and pushing. 1. Packing: as you noted, as trails dry out, speeds tend to go up. As a result, the rate of bumps hitting your wheels increases, as your suspension is hitting the same number of bumps in less time, and your fork is more likely to pack...

I agree with others that 35-50mm is a safe bet, and that the guy in the video you posted is a bit of a kook. I'm running a 60mm stem on my long travel bike, which is clearly "the wrong size," and it's fine. The reach length of the bike is a little shorter than I'd prefer, so I made it feel longer with the long stem. I've got a 40mm stem on my shorter travel bike (because it has a slightly longer reach length than I'd prefer), and it takes roughly zero feet for me to get used to...
