3/30/2026 11:36am I agree, but I also think I disagree. Wouldn't the benefit of better pumping come from the chainstay growth, and not from the pedal kickback? For starters, I 100% agree that chainstay growth creates a better pumping bike when the chain is on, and by "chainstay growth," I'm referring to the move of the rear axle away from the bottom bracket that requires the chain to get longer. Idlers allow manufacturers to fine tune the amount of chain growth independent of axle path, whereas before they were always linked directly. Now you can have a rearward axle path, but a...

2/21/2026 10:59am Sweet! I mentioned this in another post, repeating it here: I really enjoyed Troyden talking through all the steps/details involved in getting the Crestline frames into production. That whole side if things is a bit of a black box to me and it was really cool to learn a bit more about it. I'd love a multi-segment deep dive on it, especially on weird/unexpected details (like Troyden figuring out one particular production line in the factory turned out a better product than the others, and why that was); stuff you can only learn from experience.

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic Who’s Slowing down their Rebound when it gets wet and slippery?
2/14/2026 8:51am Great question! I think there's a simple suspension principle that applies here, that as rider speeds and trail speeds go up, rebound should get faster. As speeds go down, rebound should slow down as well. And I think that decision to speed up or slow rebound comes down to two things: packing and pushing. 1. Packing: as you noted, as trails dry out, speeds tend to go up. As a result, the rate of bumps hitting your wheels increases, as your suspension is hitting the same number of bumps in less time, and your fork is more likely to pack...

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic Stem Length
2/13/2026 9:25am I agree with others that 35-50mm is a safe bet, and that the guy in the video you posted is a bit of a kook. I'm running a 60mm stem on my long travel bike, which is clearly "the wrong size," and it's fine. The reach length of the bike is a little shorter than I'd prefer, so I made it feel longer with the long stem. I've got a 40mm stem on my shorter travel bike (because it has a slightly longer reach length than I'd prefer), and it takes roughly zero feet for me to get used to...
