1/20/2026 11:24pm To jump on this having dealt with spec'ing and getting bars to market, the 35 is stiffer than you will get out of a 31.8. Strength, at max strength 35 may be stronger, but trust me, we aren't getting near failure for either, at the end of the day, weight and flex are bigger issues for the industry than brute strength. The combo does play in. but with the increased need for better ride quality across the industry, 31.8 is very much a viable standard and what most of my riders actually want out of a bar. This includes many...

1/20/2026 11:24pm If designed to the same max load, a 35 mm bar is approximately 10% stiffer. The required cross sectional area of the 35 mm bar is also smaller, so it would be lighter. Below is an example where the bar is evaluated as a basic cantilevered beam where the length is 400 mm and the load is 450 N. r1 and r2 correspond to the 35 mm bar and r3 and r4 correspond to the 31.8 mm bar.

1/20/2026 1:00pm Sad to hear, hope those affected get good compensation and find new work quickly. I guess the industry slump will continue through 2026. Potential new additional tariffs on goods going into the US won't help, if they materialise. I can't help but feel a little cynical about the noise around 32" wheels, seems like everyone is pinning their hopes on...

1/16/2026 1:43am Hope they do all of the track walks in full balkan style three stripes tracksuits! (we all know this is probably related to the Adidas owning 5.10 but there might be more to the story, anyways it is indeed great news to get such a big name as a sponsor)

1/16/2026 1:04am Adidas still owns 5.10, right? There’s been rumours of them dropping the 5.10 branding and replacing it with Adidas for years, maybe this is the start? We’ve seen this before on collabs with Brendog where they remove 5.10 branding apart from a small detail on the heel pull.

1/16/2026 12:12am I think Adidas being a title sponsor of the Norco team is pretty big news. They are a huge and well recognised brand, so it's a great thing for mountain biking.

1/14/2026 6:13am Interesting team name for the Norco riders (no mention and adidas on the race division socials at the point of posting).

1/12/2026 10:34am What is the up side to taking the inserts out, wasn't clear on this the last time it was discussed. Is it just because, or is there a functional reason for wanting to try it?

1/11/2026 2:13pm Hey there Vital friend. Sorry for my bad tone last night. It’s cool of you to say that. I’m a dad, and Greenland’s story is close to my heart, so I overreacted when I wrote my post. This very good little film is why I know about Laurie’s struggles growing up. The Anthill guys made it, and it’s a great watch. ✌🏻

1/7/2026 10:11am Apologies for the pedantry but you should use a micrometer, not a caliper as many worn rotors have a bit of lip above the brake track and caliper arms will rest on that giving an inaccurate reading. You can also use a dental tool called a Boley Gauge which are often cheaper than micrometers
