I have been running the Mavens for over a month now. It took me a few rides to get used to the power delivery and progressive nature of it through the stroke. Coming from 7 years of riding and preferring the feel of the Code RSC, I find the ergonomics familiar and that's good because I really like the feel of Code RSCs. Overall, I'm very impressed. The amount of power is ridiculous. Let's start with installation. Following the SRAM's bleeding procedures, the brakes, especially the rear, had this dead stroke characteristic when engage more predominantly when I repeatedly pump...

I ran these before moving to Intends. I've also tried a bunch of other brakes. Most of the mtbr discussion is people dogpiling SRAM due to that youtube review by Dale Stone. I tried to offer some useful commentary there but eventually got tired of arguing with people who would never try them and just wanted to shit on SRAM (which I can relate to given my CS experiences with them). I'm not really sure where Enduro MTB got the power numbers from, I can say in terms of feel at least, the Mavens seem to have more power earlier...

been riding mine for 4 weeks and loving them. coming from code RCSs and beeing on the lighter side with around 74 kg, i was pretty happy with them for the most time. lots of power but with great modulation and similar feeling to codes. bite point sometimes has a little bit of wandering away from the bars, but nothing annoying IMO. mavens were installed by my local BS because there was some bigger servicing (suspension) to do anyway, so i can‘t say anything on the topic of installation or maintenance. edit: i'm using 200 front/rear with organic pads, tried...

So we’ve all seen the hype behind the Mavens, I’m sure most of us read the press release and watched the initial reviews from mtb media. Since the release though, I can’t find many opinions/reviews from consumers. There’s a bit on the mtbr forums, but I found most responses to be of little use. There was some interesting discussion about...

I'll chime in with my opinion, which seems to differ a bit from most. Some background on me, I am 150lbs but I would say I ride harder than most. I spent 2 years beating the crap out of a 170mm Fox 36, including many park days, enduros, and DH races. I never felt like that fork held me back...

Looks like an over-suspension'd Izzo, frame details are exactly an Izzo, down to the chainstay protection. Cool but strange build.

Man its kind of sad that this is the current era of mountain biking tech and innovation. Colors, small measurements, and the same tread pattern repeated on tires. I miss the 2012-2017 era. Where enduro was just beginning and 29ers on big bikes were becoming a thing. Pros doing sometimes absurd builds… oh and cheaper bikes. Good times.

Robert from The Loam Wolf here. I was the one who broke the Scalpel, and I’m not surprised I did - overshot the landing of a large jump for an XC bike, landing in the pocket between the landing and the flat ground after it. Huge bottom out. I corrected Kaz at Pinkbike’s quote - he had flatteringly guessed me to be 190lbs, whereas I am 220lbs. Nothing fishy. I wholeheartedly believe the Scalpel is fit for purpose and that it was my fault! Was having far too much fun and got carried away.

I haven't seen this photo of the FrameWorks lugged bike. The lines and flow of this frame look amazing.

I'll take your money, I know the lock I use like the back of my hand. But in reality, counterpoint, would you want to ride a setup that has a 10kmh minimum? Also, the crowns look like this to me:

Nigel Page posting what would have been a new reactor frame. I wonder what will happen to all their tooling as it sounds like Mike Ashley only bought the name and I.P. Could a smaller brand swoop in and buy up the tooling from the liquidator?

I just want to know how soon it is before we see a Magura lever to Maven caliper (Magaven) or vice versa since they are now both mineral oil? Would a Maven lever to a Magura lever be a Mavura? LOL.
