2/21/2025 4:27pm That bike is rad. Teeny L-beam seatstays and pocketed (but larger) chainstays. Looks practical to machine and keeps the chainstay stiffer than the seatstay for more roll and less wag. Good pedal stiffness but also good compliance. It will always be heavier than a tube for the same stiffness but (turns out) it's hard to machine a tube so this is a great solution and will be stiff enough for its weight. and it's cooler than a tube. It's neat that they can machine all these parts and still make money per bike... that's a lot of machine time. Funny...

2/21/2025 4:22pm The collar is already pretty fat on the AXS V1, and by the looks of it, it hasnt increased in size very much adding a battery to it on the V2 So by doing this, they've dropped a significant ammount of stack from the seat mount part/top of the dropper. Sorry if that wasnt clear enough in the above post. The old "collar" is quite fat on the old version: So by putting the battery there instead of at the top, I'd say they lost a good ammount of stack - as pictured in my last post I just measured...

2/21/2025 4:21pm I've got some bad news: it doesn't matter where the added stack height is located, it's still added stack height. A 180mm post with 20mm of added stack height for a battery and motor at the top of the seatpost is just as tall as a 180mm post with 20mm of added stack height at the collar. At least if the added stack height is integrated at the very bottom of the post some people will be able to slam the post all the way into a deep-insertion seat tube. But for most people, it's probably just added stack height.

2/18/2025 4:25pm Ironically, for the cost of 1 electronic dropper, you could buy 3 normal droppers and wouldn't need to swap anything. Bikers will buy the most stupid sh*t and electronic droppers is at the top of that list.

2/15/2025 2:09pm You know I have worried about Cascade Components as bike companies are getting pretty dialed with stock suspension as it is for us non World Cup riders. Being less demand or less that Cascade could even change on a bikes kinematics. But this! This is actually really bad ass. Seriously this is so cool because now you have 2 bikes 1 frame technically. Like this is what pro riders must feel like when RnD says “Hey we heard you were not 100% with that link, so we altered it and the whole frame. Try this homie” If this is a...

2/11/2025 11:56pm I can with 100% certainty say you're incorrect. "We're all better for it." is immeasurably short-sighted. I only typed that thing up because I didn't want the poster to feel like I was making a judgement on him (or anyone else). It costs me nothing to make sure the people who haven't earned any sort of negativity from me don't perceive any negativity from me towards them. For many of us life is hard. We're all humans and we all feel things differently based on what our hour/day/week/month/year has been like. I don't need to contribute negativity into anyone's life...

2/11/2025 11:49pm Here's a Slayer prototype frame built in 2018 IIRC. I have another example of an earlier prototype built with a chip that allowed a low or mid-height main pivot. I'll have to fire up my external drive (cough I'm old..) to get a photo.
