With 170mm of travel on tap and the ability to morph itself at the push of a lever, Scott's new Ransom is the best all-mountain/enduro bike the company has created. It's truly a blast to ride and handles so many scenarios well. Listen in as Vital MTB's Product Editor, Brandon Turman, rallies down Purgatory Resort outside of Durango, Colorado, telling you everything he thinks about the orange machine. Be sure to check out Vital's First Look article for a complete tech breakdown. Ransom Highlights One frame, two wheel sizes: 27.5 or 29-inch Carbon and aluminum frame options 170mm (6.7-inch) travel...

Eoin Added a comment about feature Three Winning Runs from Rampage 2017 with Rider Commentary

I remember having the same feeling last year, most of the footage before the finals weekend was from instagram. I think they purposefully limit the press coverage of the preparation stage to keep up interest. I can kinda see how if they showed the same 4-5 lines all week and riders hitting most of their lines it would take away from the finals. Still, the media blackout is a bit weird...

Yes, I live in the Nice area of France and race Enduro, you regularly see Vouilloz drive Daprela to the race in the morning and then encourage or shout out lines to him during the race. The only other racer to get this kind of treatment that I know of is Adrien Dailly. Bruni and Loris also come from this...

Yes great job as always with the coverage of the UCI DH and EWS. It is almost funny how other sites are really trying to immitate (i.e. rip off) your content, but impressive that you manage to stay so far ahead of the curve thanks to the great work of the photogs and editors.

Wow, some serious lists, some of you must have massive garages! I have a lot of frame swaps but generally in order of purchase, some are second hand so the dates dont necessarily go upwards : 1996 Decathlon rockrider 500 (got it when i was 12 and resurrected it in 2006, frame swap later) ** 2008 Giant reign ( broke...

If you are going to the bike park regularly, maybe don't prioritize the jeffsy and spectral, they are great all mountain and even enduro race bikes, but they will suffer a little too much in jumps and bermed corners, I have a Jeffsy that I love and race often on natural trails, but it just feels too flexy in the...

Weird, in my case it was more the sidewall than the bead, but I think the issue was pretty similar: I guess that whatever lining is inside the rubber has ripped leading to overly strechy tyres?

Very similar thing happened to me 2-3 years ago, had never seen such a failure and then 2 occurred over a couple of months (in my case it was from a side impact to the tyre causing it to ballon up in one area). I have read about this happening with a couple of maxxis tyres shipped with Commencals recently...

Adding to the cones and pump track comment (and moving away from the physical training...). It is impressive how you can improve with no equipment: I never used cones, but i completely changed my riding style by going out in front of my house and doing bunny hop drills up a 40cm step and nose-turns around light posts, nose turn...

I can't remember any occasion where a rider has switched bikes for a single world cup event and gone on to win it. Yeah Sam Hill did well in Cairns, as did Jared in PMB, but those were the bikes they raced all season. Surely it's better to stick to what you are familiar with. I'm fully expecting Gwin to smoke them all on his Tues anyway :-)

Seems like a troll/joke. As others have pointed out, you can win without a chain, so why would a better pedaling bike be a good choice? There are always complaints about this track, but I find the live feed really good (way better than fort bill for example), the follow cam of Brendan and Troy a year or two ago was mint, and even without taking into account the amazing outlier runs of Gwin's chainless and tyreless attempts, some of the past runs of Smith and Vergier right on the knife's edge are great to rewatch.

Awesome test, seems like overall the performance of all the bikes is very similar. Other timed tests I would love to see: Capra 27.5 vs Capra 29 (same build) Entry level vs top spec bike (same tyres please) Commencal Meta 4.2 vs Commencal Meta Power with power off on descents

Best theory I've read so far is that they are gunning down the IBIS as they are the #1 EWS team Tongue
Moved to 29 a while back, expected all companies to release sick new aggressive 29ers this years but pretty bummed so many 27.5 have been announced. I borrowed a canyon strive (27.5) for a few days, it felt good, but was slower than my enduro 29 and now YT jeffsy 29. I would like a bigger bike than the Jeffsy...

Europe is a big, varied place, but down in the south of France the local enduros started an e-mtb category 2 years ago. The first year there were 4-5 shop owners racing, the next year there were maybe 10... Then this year the last race I went to had 40 including very fast downhillers and pros not wanting to tire themselves out too much on smaller races. It is growing very fast, and with that people seem to be accepting them. Personally and in my riding group I feel like we were more against 29ers a few years ago than...

Redesigning their shoes every single year seems a little weird to me... I have been really happy with my ME5's but pretty disappointed with the previous AM9's (not comfortable, weird sizing and very soft sole). Those looking at the DH clipless pedal might want to look at Funn Mambas or DMR's offering which are on the market for less and use shimano cleats. Personally I tried the Mambas, but ended up returning to a XT trail pedal as the wider platform and pins didnt do much for me and actively hindered easy engagement on the cleat.
