Eoin Added a reply to Riding Solo - Love It or Hate It?

I love riding with 2-3 others around my level, problem is more and more i find those guys invite some less fit or less fast guys, which becomes pretty annoying just because you end up riding less in one outing, and there is always one guy who needs to leave early, or one guy who gets a mechanical etc... Groups...
Prepare your shit before race day, most races are a single or 2 days event: have everything (clothes/food/bars) packed and compartementalised before the race day. Clean, lube and check pressures before leaving your house. Never drastically change any of your setup on race weekend, make any changes 1-2 rides before hand. When you get to the venue, you are there...

Eoin Added a reply to Will Electric Downhill Bikes Become A Thing?

Wow the crowd is split 50/50 on this with no room for compromise it seems Tongue I was a fervent hater, until a few guys I know got one and I saw a bunch of pro's using them at local races (specifically the greatest DH racer of all time, last years world DH champ and the junior enduro champ Tongue ...
France: only seen 1 and it was a test bike from a shop (stumpjumper 6fattie), but a local kid raced it in the first enduro race of the year and placed really well on it. As mentioned in a previous topic: we are slowly getting overrun with E-bikes however...

Out here in France these things are being aggressively marketed towards all of the MTB community, a bunch of top enduro riders in the masters class have switched over even though they would still win their category on regular bikes. Bruni and Vergier were on these all last winter. So yes, fast guys are using them and being marketed to and the feedback is very positive from them (double your descending for the same effort and time as on a regular bike). For now, it seems it is mostly sponsored riders, but it probably will catch on, for better or...

Eoin Added a reply to What do you want to see from an MTB edit?

Some of my favourite edits have been the raw stuff from the WC, but even more so the New Zealand guys riding at home, Brannigan, Ed Masters, Reece Wallace... If the rider is loose enough, that is the way to go! But a finely crafted edit showcasing exceptional skill in varied terrain with a hint of landscapes, a tiny bit...
For me it's when you find the flow of the trail and it feels like you can spend minutes at a time without braking or pedaling. The extreme of this, and I only know a few sections of trails where I can make it happen, is when you are on a fairly clean and fast singletrack and it "feels" like...

I think you needed to make your own mix as the Slime sealant is so bad. Notubes' sealant is incomparably better, almost always seals any hole smaller than a 1/2cm, whereas Slime cant fix a thorn hole or valve leak... In my experience: Go full ghetto with a BMX tube on cheap rims. Specialized's tubeless rim tape is incredibly cheap...

I love that on multiple occasions this year Troy Brosnan has talked about "riding like Sam Hill". The guy rode with Sam and now is team mates with Gwin, and still considers balls out fast riding to be "Sam Hill" riding...
