The M2S is a little bit better than a Bosch on virtually every aspect: weight, size, noise, efficiency, software, overall package (screen, controllers, lights), price of the bikes. But much more importantly, just look at the bikes, take any Bosch bike like the commencal, crestline, orbea, then compare their Avinox equivalent, they are just so much better looking. On top...

It weighs less and has more power. As smooth or smoother than the competition (partially due to its much higher wheel polling). Batteries also have class leading power to weight density. But clearly they are selling well during the worst, most painful era the industry has ever seen because of "spreadsheet shoppers".

They were a nightmare to setup, but for sure they allowed tyres and soft mavic rims of theat period to last waaaayyy longer than even proper tubeless. I have cut the tyre off the rim a few times as I found it easier than removing it from ghetto tubeless setup!

I think I could count the number of times I have washed any of my helmets ever on two hands...

Maybe a fraction of a step below, but I would include the current Commencal Muc-Off team. Amaury, Loris, and the two Alrans. The latter haven’t won yet, but I don’t think any of us doubt the day is coming for both and very soon.

I knew I was playing with karma with that joke, but holy moly I'm not even sure I scored points this round... Just to add insult to injury I had picked the wrong Bode by accident and got really confused when the live stream said he wasnt riding a Norco

Hello, I'd like to count my eggs before they hatch... Are there any prizes for the overall fantasy league, or is it just on a round by round basis?

I think for most brands now the addage of "there are no bad bikes" is quite true. But as a 5'10 (177cm), I am pretty sure my favourite reach is in the 460-470cm range, so I get pretty bummed out by the amount of brands these days that have a 450mm M and a 480mm L! One thing that drives...

They can make sense on other motor platforms as you could have a full power bike under 20kg which will have a very different ride feel than all the 22-24kg bikes out right now. It just makes a lot less sense on the specialised as you just can't get the weight down all that much, as it has the heaviest...

Great feature Jason. Along with a lot of other ebike riders I didn't really see the point of having an ebike with less than 160mm of travel. But with this latest batch of bikes, and especially some of the weights that are being reached, I now see a reason to have a short travel ebike on top of a super enduro version.

Bet big on Lachie, so that rear wheel explosion hurts! Somehow didn't lose that many positions. I like that the budget+cost no longer favours a bunch of underdogs, but I do wish we could afford 2 top males and 2 top females + juniors. And I mean this just for engagement during the race, it's more fun when you have...

Not really bikeconomics, but from a maketing point of view: I absolutely believe that Specialized's DH program gives them some serious cred and sells bikes (probably Levos) even if they don't sell any DH bikes. I am very dubious that Trek factory racing hasn't actively hurt Trek in the past few years. Of course we all remember the Gwin glory...

Press releases, announcements, and talking about it. We thought it would be a good idea to fire up this one convenient thread as the go-to place to post breaking MTB product and industry news (don't worry, the juicy stuff will definitely be shared and talked about in the main Tech Rumors thread just as usual). Expect anything from a couple of pics and a short blurb to full-on press releases with the marketing fluff that we all love and cherish. And of course, chime in with your thoughts, reactions, and any news that we might have missed!

It still blows my mind that Strava is a company at all, obviously it has the social network aspect with monetisation and tons of users, but to me and everyone I know it's just the convenient place to store your ride logs and have segment leaderboards. I nearly ended up working for their kinda competitor Komoot at one point, but...

Don't see an edit button: The best info on batteries and efficiencies is this article: https://ebike-mtb.com/en/e-bike-motor-test-range-efficiency-vertical-ra… Unfortunately the test does not have the M2S, but in a different test they confirmed the 3% gain. One caveat to the "watt is a watt", is that manufacturers can print whatever number they want, for instance Specialized's 840Wh battery which by most metrics...

A watt is a watt, the newer bikes have the m2s which is claimed ar 2-3% more efficient than M1 making the new system in 700Wh closer to the old system in 800Wh. I want to see a comparison of the new bikes with the old 800Wh compared to the original M1 system. If anything, the 700Wh could consume slightly...
