Eoin Added a reply to Vital’s Bikes: Unaffiliated Podcast - Community Conversation
1/27/2026 5:44am I want to put my hand up in shame and echo Jason's story about buying the wrong tyres. After the Continental hype when the Irish boys went 1-2 in Snowshoe, I figured I'd try them out without doing any research. I bought an Argotal, in trail casing with "endurance" compound... That tyre has no right to even exist, I can't...

1/27/2026 1:59am The "Grassroots Enduro Series" in Ireland does (did? I moved away a few years back) that. The venues are usually relatively compact (as are the Irish mountains) and all stages are open from say 0900 to 1500 and you can race the stages as many times as you like in whatever order you wish. Always a good day out with (for me) the focus on riding fun new (to me) trails with a bunch of mates. Cheap entries too. EDIT: Link to series website: https://grassrootsenduro.com/

Eoin Added a reply to Grassroots Enduro... Where Should It Go?
1/27/2026 1:02am I know this needs more staff/volunteers, but especially for the ebike category, I would love to see a format where you get to race the stage as many times as you want, best time counts. Let's say you have 3 stages, first one is open from 9-12, second one from 11-2 and last one from 1-3. That way regular bikes...

Eoin Added a reply to MTB Handlebar Diameter Debates - 31.8 vs 35 and more
1/24/2026 12:46am I've got like 4 sets of 35mm stems and bars that I took off new bikes, but continue to run an ancient thomson 31.8 stem setup. Laughing at the "can't feel the difference, I'm on renthal" comments. I'm currently on renthal alu, by far the harshest bar ever, I'll never understand how they got so popular. It happens to be...

1/17/2026 8:25am Here in France it's mostly e-scooters, the type you stand on, but some brands do fast ones with big tyres and suspension. Regularly see dudes bombing along cycle paths without a helmet. A lot of people just go right onto the main roads, but they tend to have more protections. To be fair, kids have been bombing around on 50cc...

Eoin Added a reply to How often do you service your fork?
1/7/2026 1:08am Follow-up question how do you guys define "hours" of riding? If you go to a lift or shuttle assisted bike park all day, does that count as 8h of riding or just the ~1h of descending? I think most would agree the descending only. But then, if you are doing loops that are mostly road/fireroads up, then a big descent...
Eoin Added a comment about feature An Argument Against Transition Knobs | Continental Argotal vs. Maxxis High Roller Comparison Review
1/7/2026 12:45am I find the Argotal knobs to be too high for an intermediate tyre, I prefer to run a Kryptotal Rear at the front for similar reasons to the ones described in this article. Kryptotals also seem to be the longest lasting rubber for a given level of grip by a country mile.

1/7/2026 12:36am Gemini pro is mindblowing if this is accurate, considering the intro and following section is very believable with minor typos. I want to believe! Intro What’s going on everybody! 1/5/2026 3:18pm I went from an enduro die hard fan when EWS started back in the day, to barely checking results or coverage around 2024. Some of it is personal, when EWS started out, I had met a lot of the French pros at local/regional/national races, it was easy to root for your local teenager: Nicolai, Cure, Dailly, Tordo and the legends...
Eoin Added a reply to 2025: Things you loved this year
12/24/2025 1:06pm 1) One year on my Bosch ebike from cube that ended up being the best bike I've owned and flawless (beyond some creaking). 2) 3 weeks without the kids over summer, some big trips to bike parks and high Alps, unreal. 3) Still progressing at 41, think I've hit the biggest gaps of my life this year, in part due...

12/19/2025 4:17am When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

12/19/2025 3:00am I can't speak for that specific bike, but yes I have had a 26kg long travel ebike that felt plenty playful. You do need to get the unsprung weight down and run your suspension slightly stiff with very fast rebound. Vital recently blessed us with this raw that definitely answers the above question: https://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/features/macaskill-williamson-barnes-an… (they are nearly all on ebikes...
