RE: 2016: People may not remember this, but it was not a good year in the bike industry. Europe had terrible weather in March and April, Brexit was happening, there was an unforeseen glut of inventory (at the wholesale/distribor) level in the USA and China saw a big slowdown that caused their market to contract. If you go dig around you'll see stories on this stuff. As to the future, while I don't have a crystal ball, I do believe they'll hit their 2025 numbers. Seriously, freeride went through a development phase of over designed, under engineered strange shit that was a privilege and a challenge to live through. Bikes will never be as weird and as almost ready to kill you.

telluride was super short without any significant steep sections IIRC. photo of colin bailey at telluride below. i shot in 2002 and remember getting this slide back (film rules...look at the sky), and thinking maybe i could do more of this MTB photo stuff. later that day a rider crashed, her bike flew up and hit me and broke the flash off my camera LOL. i think telluride '02 was in clappin yo' dome w/ snoopdogg and pharell song to the section. had that log whoop section. most DH racers did 4x too. crazy that was 22 years ago. sorry...
