I'm just another idiot, but the very next image in the Formula teardown story you linked looks like a shim arrangement on the backside of the CTS valve. I think of an "orifice damper" as something that uses a cone or needle to marginally adjust how open or closed an orifice is at all shaft speeds, not a shim that opens or closes the valve at different shaft speeds. "Ben shows the shim against the bottom of the blue valve. The rounded edge of the nut beneath allows the shim to flex when oil is forced through the circuit."

If you met someone at the trailhead, asked them what % progressive kinematic their frame had and what is the leverage ratio they would look at you like you were an alien holding a rectal probe. "I bought it because it was blue" would be their response. Normal people don't care about this stuff lol. I've tried them all over the years, from literally Regressive designs, through to 45% DH monsters. I keep coming back to 25% been my sweet spot on a coil for an enduro/long travel bike. It's my goldilocks number. What is more important, is the Ratio...

You sound as if Maxxis tires are all the sudden unrideable. I'm glad Maxxis has competition now but calling them "the dogs breakfast" is fried. You don't ride like Moimoi - you'll be fine on exo+... (or if you actually know how to ride, doubledown).

The Danny Hart frame mods are so sick. More flex in the rear triangle, but less at the brake mount. Smart man. Also, cool to see the data-intensive approach from the MS team regarding the new E.Thirteen hub. Have really been impressed by O.Chain and super curious to hear/see more about the Sidekick hub. It's a good time to be a tech nerd.

I have an unreleased 140/150mm bike in the shop that comes stock with a Fox 36 and Mavens type build kit with a completely new inline fox shock with the bike manufacturers logo on it and a HUGE air can. It's very strange to see an inline shock on a build like this so I'm interested in whats going on with it. Apparently next week we'll know. It kind of looks like an RP23 with a high volume air can but 1.5x the size

I was one of the early adopters of the stumpy evo in 2019 I lost count of how many shocks I blew up, I'm guessing 8... Fox, rockshox, cane creek x 4, EXT.... all ate the sausage. Thanks yoke clevis & Obama.
