12/8/2023 11:49am YT mill does free demos if you sign up early enough in San Clemente and is right next to dog park trails. https://us.yt-industries.com/demo-a-yt-bike/yt-mill-showrooms/ Also skypark at Santa's Village is an option if you don't mind also buying a bike park ticket. Same with Luiseno Bike park but that might be a far drive from LA.

12/8/2023 11:45am When are you planning to be doing this? The hot ticket riding areas are Laguna Beach (Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and Aliso Woods) although much of the very best and most technical riding there is off the menu. To that end, thebikeco is the closest to the trails there and would be the most convenient for demo's. I do not...

12/6/2023 7:53am likely not what you want to hear... but I wouldn't be running a zeb at 150lbs unless I was a world cup level rider and capable of putting energy into the bike like a 190-200lb expert pro-am rider. That being said... the zeb is a great chassis and with some mods it can be excellent, even for light weight riders...

11/30/2023 5:47pm The sv8 is a cool product, it'll sell loads to dudes with levo's I'm sure. I don't quite get the limited off the shelf tunes with how resistant they are to sell/configure an 11.6 for bikes that are not in their catalog or they don't have data on. The pricing isn't a great value, but it's not terrible for a...

11/28/2023 11:03am Did anyone listen to the Brook Macdonald podcast from MSA on the "Mauve Moped" site? He made a reference in there to not getting along with his bike. I was doing like 10 things at once (freekin adhd) while listening to it, so maybe my listening comprehension boned it. But it seemed like he was talking about the new/current ms...

11/14/2023 7:37am If you already own it and it's the bike you have to ride, it's a perfectly suitable mountain bike. If you're buying a bike now, IMO you're better off with a more modern, long travel trail or enduro bike in the 2-4k range (used to new ranging from used trail bikes like giant reigns, rocky slayer/altitude, etc up to new...

10/27/2023 12:48pm So much fun reading everyone's responses. I've been fortunate to cross paths with many of my MTB 'heroes,' and it always cracks me up to think how what are core memories for me are likely lost memories for the other person. I'm always desperate for MTB clout, so here are some of my fav memories: - 2012, hiking to the start in Port Angeles, I was next to Mick Hannah, and he looked at me and said, "You're the kid who came from moto racing, yeah?" He was thinking of Charlie Harrison since we were on the same team at...

10/26/2023 1:55pm I accidentally hit my front wheel into Rémy Métaillers rear tire in the lift line, I said sorry, he didn't hear me and moved forward. I think it qualifies me to share his political views now

10/26/2023 1:55pm Last year, on a bike trip to Vermont, while paused at the top of two trails and deciding animatedly amongst us which of the two to ride down, Phil Kmetz popped out from behind a tree like some kinda goddamn gnome and recommended the Blue over the Black, if were to only hit this area once, which we were, and then pointed us to another trail system in the area which ended up being an absolute gem and the highlight of our trip. Later, when we got back to my truck at the end of the ride, a crisp sheet...

10/25/2023 12:08pm These are more or less the same in terms of spec. It would come down to geometry, features or travel requirements in order to chose one over the next. All of those bikes have good enough drivetrains, ok brakes, mediocre suspension but livable and crappy wheelsets. For me, the best one bike quiver bikes out there are: yeti sb140, giant...

10/20/2023 4:36pm All fabrication done by myself in the garage. I have small benchtop mill, benchtop lathe, and an oxy-propane brazing set up. Jig is also garage made out of cold rolled steel a design copied from a number of Colorado builders that use a similar design. The first single pivot frame was build with hand files, hacksaw and a vise. No jig and no machines, just a couple of pieces of cheap aluminum angle to float the rear axle in space relative to the front end. A full size paper drawing was done to figure it all out.

9/27/2023 2:51pm I did a little dive through the spare parts catalog and the service manual just to refresh myself on the HBO implementation that RS is using here. This seems like the most standard hbo implementation that I've seen, where it's a secondary piston with a bleed bypass and not the less common, needle style hbo. Intuitively, the relation of the...

9/25/2023 12:35pm I've got a big noggin, it measures around 62 so I'm always looking for the biggest helmets in the shop to try on. Most helmets feel like they are pushing in on my forehead and the rolls on the back of my head push it down when I'm riding. The Troy Lee A3 Mips was my choice when I was on the helmet hunt a year ago. I agree about the sweat gutter, it works well for awhile then if fails. When the second one failed, I used some 1/8" thin double sided tape (looks like the iCraft brand on...

9/25/2023 12:00pm Hey Folks... I am in between half shell lids and I could use some recommendations. I searched for active threads on the forums here and most of them seemed out dated... so here goes. I would like to get a 2023 what helmets are people using and which ones are worth looking at thread going. This isn't limited to half...

9/25/2023 11:12am hah, you don't know who I am, you don't know where/what I ride nor where I dig. The fact that you're using the word "illegal" tells what I need to know. The politics of each riding area are unique. Ironically, we're on the same team... the trails I am riding I was shown by some 'rad' dudes... back when we...
