ebruner Added a reply to Anyone rode a 5010 and a tallboy?
10/7/2024 2:43pm I have a nomad 6 with what sounds like a similar setup, dh tires, coil suspension 39.5lbs. I also have a full 29r 135r/150f trail bike that shares a stable with the nomad. I do like having a full 29r as a stable mate to a mullet bike as it's something completely different. That being said, I'm 6'2", so a...

Which of these athletes would consider trading to me their...

ebruner Added a reply to Carbon rims On enduro style bike, general consensus?
9/3/2024 1:08pm I was a Carbon rim on my enduro/park bike, guy for years. 3 years ago, I went back to running EX511's on my big bikes and most recently, bought a set of Reserve AL/HDs. I have run reserve carbon, chinese off brand carbon, giant trx carbon and roval carbon wheels. Currently, the carbon wheels in my stable are btlos (chinese...
ebruner Added a reply to Proper DH helmets
8/26/2024 8:05am I don't have a ton to add to this conversation other then my own experience. I have a D4 polyacrolite and my riding buddy has a fox RPC. We're both quite happy with our helmet choices. Me personally, I made my decision based on fit, I thought both helmets were quite well made with regards to fit/finish/features. I had the...
ebruner Added a reply to WEIGHT REALLY MATTERS?
8/21/2024 9:11am Weight doesn't matter to me personally. It's all about tires, rotating mass weight and suspension kinematics. I pedal a 39lb nomad with DH tires on 4-5k climbing days, I do both big/small days on my 19lb gravel bike with 48c tires. The difference in average speed, climbing pace and how I feel has more to do with me then it...

7/26/2024 9:17am How on earth did you even stop looking at the "pranks" * long enough to notice that there was a wireless fox dropper on there. Seriously, I'm all for short cranks, but I think the industry is taking this one too far.
*pegs + cranks = pranks... ok, maybe we need to work shop this one a bit, but...
ebruner Added a reply to Upgrade rear hub or freehub
7/25/2024 12:37pm The wheel is not only not worth upgrading, it will be next to impossible to find parts to upgrade that hub or the hubs internals. It won't at all be worth the money to replace the hub, buy new spokes and then spend $150 dollars to have the rear wheel re-built using a $30 dollar hoop. In this case, you're...

7/24/2024 9:37am Re: wireless only frames... as with everything in life the answer is likely it's a bit of everything. Innovation slowing in areas like geo, suspension and overall product improvement from generation to generation lead to looking for notable and small gains. Wireless shifting is likely one place where brands feel that they can offer something different and new to people...

ebruner Added a reply to Zeb Airspring Bent
7/17/2024 8:08am Just to clarify, you're getting this hang in the air spring when moving the sealhead on the airshaft when it is either removed from the fork entirely, or when it is installed in the CSU/Uppers and no air spring cap is installed?

7/2/2024 8:49am Isn't that kind of the point of the Stumpjumper though? It's the Toyota Camry (or maybe more appropriately the Tacoma) of mountain bikes. An easy to ride and live with bike that appeals to the fat part of the bell curve.

ebruner Added a reply to Fork damper upgrade
6/27/2024 9:19am I have had a zeb since release as I bought a zeb ultimate back in 2019 when they hit the market and got the first one my LBS got. That fork served me well over the years and saw many mods, vorsprung secus, then a smashpot, a hc97 push charger damper and ultimately a modified charger 2.1 (home brew shim...

6/25/2024 2:59pm I see Zink talk pop up every two years or so and I always hold my tongue, but this time I just want to put my experience with him out there because I’d bet I’ve interacted with him more than 90% of the people on here. I second your experience. I grew up outside of Reno and have bought 3 frames from Zink and ridden/dug at the local trails a few times with him. He is a great guy. I’ve had in depth discussions with him about previous frame sponsors (first bike I bought from him was in 2011 and...

6/21/2024 10:25am All mtb use bridges should have a 3rd railing board running paraleel that butts against the walking treads. Creates a catch/berm for any front wheel that slips so you can't slide off and slam the posts or worse. I've only seen a few MTB specific bridges with it & only noticed how valuable it was when it saved me once.
