4/21/2025 8:02am Hey everyone, this is TJ. Tariffs aren't fixed to factory cost, or wholesale or retail. They're calculated based on the specific transaction price. The example we used is accurate for an ecomm purchase, shipped from our warehouse in Canada. If a retailer ordered the same short and we charged them half the price ($100), the same tariff percentage would apply, so tariffs would be $145 for a total cost to the retailer of $245. If the retailer sells that short to a customer and maintains their dollar margin the short would be $345 to the end user - however if...

4/21/2025 7:02am Some of you never rode when we had no clutches so the loose, flopping chain smashed against every part of your aluminum bike and the fork knocked in the 1 1/8th head tubes and then echoed through your monocoque frame and it shows. I can barely hear my current bike compared to the 3rd grade marching bands on wheels we used to ride pre-2012. I didn't even know you could hear what your tires were doing for the first 10 years I rode.

4/18/2025 2:56pm I hope that tarrifs get presented to us consumers in the "resort fee" or "service charge" itemization fashion for as many products as possible. With that reality staring people glaringly in the face, it will show the remaining sheep that stay aggressively igornant, exactly what the choices of the executive branch are costing them. That will of course be difficult...

4/15/2025 7:53am Bringing it full circle from complain-stays... What's the current/future meta in geometry? Seems like stacks are still coming up little by little while hta's have stabilized. Maybe hta's haven't stabilized, but more the resurgence of all mountain has created a space for a bike where hta's can stabilize. What's the future of pedal bike geometry going to be like that...

4/14/2025 4:08pm No one cares... but I'm going to post it anyway. I'm 6'2", I like a 490-500mm reach and I like a 445-450 chainstay to pair with that reach. That range depends on the HTA and front center, but I can be happy with a bit shorter CS with a bit less reach or a bit steeper head tube angle. The...

4/9/2025 7:17am Thanks for taking the time to write all this. On the surface, commercial real estate construction and the bike industry might not seem related, but I’d argue there’s more to learn from what @ebruner wrote than there is to ignore. A few thoughts, just for the hell of it… First, I’m surprised there weren’t more options for these businesses that otherwise seemed healthy. You’d think they could switch banks or find an entirely different lending instrument, depending on their size. Maybe it’s just easier to wind down and start over? Do you think these guys fully disappear? While service businesses...

4/8/2025 2:59pm In my industry (large commercial construction projects), we've had a few of our subs go under because the bank called on their line of credit. It's not rare for a sub that does 30M a year to be into their line of credit slightly depending on how the year ebbs/flows. For example, if a few projects get behind on change...

4/8/2025 12:40pm gonna play devil's advocate x1000 here about levo speeds with the explicit mention that i don't care if anyone anywhere buys one, i would NEVER buy one (who has nearly 5 figures to spend on a bicycle with or without a motor???), i'm painfully aware of the wrench this class 3 stuff throws into trail advocacy, i fully expect 87.69% of levo owners to be rallying illegally in class 3 and i fully expect downvotes to go skyhigh, but... i own a toyota yaris (maybe 97mph top speed). a mid-life-crisis guy in a neighborhood down the way owns a ferrari...

4/8/2025 10:55am Holy #$@^ the cascade products for the SJ15 are so fricken cool. @CascadeComponents is this compatible with both the alloy and carbon versions? Getting an alloy sj15 @ 2k + 2k for this setup at 4k is a way cooler bike then a SJ Carbon at 3,500. Either way, what a cool thing for consumers for this platform.

4/8/2025 10:51am This is amazing, one thing that isn't clear here is if this is compatible with both the alloy and carbon versions?

4/8/2025 10:26am Upcoming bullit is not a well kept secret. Some un-secured shopify stores allow the photos to come up in google images. Should be released within the next week or so from what I've heard. GX Axs in Teal. X0 Build in Black

4/7/2025 1:23pm In the meantime, I have an incoming factory order of a couple thousand mtb pants that are going to be hit with an additional 26% tariff, for 53.9% total import tax. India. That would be all fine and good, if: 1: I thought consumers would be wiling to pay 26% more. LOL. 2: Tariffs would hold at 53.9%. They won't, so I'll be in a permanent hole on this year's inventory. These import taxes will roll away within a few months. Businesses need a predictable environment in which to operate. If I knew the tariffs would actually be permanent and...

3/31/2025 11:49am 5000ft vertical in trail mode on my Vala, I don’t want or need to zoom round with 100nm, quite happy with my dialled down 60, still able to put in plenty of effort. E-bikes have predictably become an arms race for power/torque.

3/27/2025 10:48am Less power then codes is not enough power for trail biking where I live fwiw. My minimum brake is code, metallic pads and 200mm hs2 rotors and that can be really pushing it on some of the big mountain descents we have here.

3/27/2025 10:05am Sram also released the maven base today. No swing link, dual 18mm pistons (ILO 18 and 19.5 on bronze/silver/ult). I'm sure this brake will proliferate all sub 10k builds, similarly to how it has with SC's new builds. Pretty lame tbh... the piston size thing makes just upgrading your brakes with maven silver lever assemblies questionable.

3/25/2025 7:40am I don't (fully) wrap my own bikes, but I wrap my wife's bikes with ride wrap (no shill here, but NA made and the guys are super nice so I buy from them). I buy some 3m clear protection tape in rolls of 24" x 96" and I cut strips up to protect key areas on my own bikes. I...

3/24/2025 12:12pm Speaking of the transition regulator... I was pretty excited about the way Transition went about this one because I assumed that they had used the same front triangle for the SX motor version as the CX. I've thought for a while now, that the bike industry has too many skews for oem mfg's and bike shops to be successful. I...
