Amazing race... North American downhill fans are a class act and I'll be headed up to this race next year with my wife for spectating and soaking in the vibes. Really nice not having the gas power tools drowning out the crowd noise and the sound of the bikes making their way down the track. Absolutely epic riding with an...

I briefly owned a topaz back in the t2 days (in 2016) and constantly had reliability issues. No comment on their current stuff... but it doesn't surprise me given how many challenges I had back then. I would just buy a take-off float x or rockshox super deluxe. I can't tell what frame that is, but seems like it has...

For the most part, batteries are 1-1.2lbs per 100wh and that rings true for the bosch lineup. The 800wh is 2.1lbs heavier and the range extender is 3.3lbs heavier... again, in line with the 1-1.2lbs per 100wh. Since the 600+250 is 850wh and the 800wh is both less wh and less packaging, it's going to weigh less. We also have...

I have a 600wh in frame battery with a 250w range extender on my bike, which makes 750w of max power. I have zero issues soft pedaling my way into 4,500' elevation gain rides in boost mode. I also do plenty of epic 7,500' elevation gain rides in mid power modes on this bike. Lamenting 600wh internal frame batteries is...

Closing thoughts on the new maxx Terra v2. Dh season is over for me now, and I’ve been riding the DHR2 since it opened. FWIW, this is on a DH bike at race pace for the season. Just about 160 miles and just under 100k feet of descending. Still has tons of breaking grip, can’t tell the difference in nor-cal dirt from maxx grip, but well over 2x the life, if not more. Casing is spent and the tire got a sidewall slice at the top of the casing insert on the last run, so she’s pretty cooked, otherwise would...

Lots of good suggestions here... I will add that I don't have a ton of strong opinions on fork performance with a 120-130mm travel fork on a hard tail. As long as I can get the right rebound damping I want I'm mostly fine. I find that I am never going to be in a position to rely heavily on...

Where are you riding most often? I'm interested because I ride all over california and have a nomad 6, a hightower 4 and a bullit. I honestly found the n6 platform to be pretty easy to morph into whatever I wanted it to be. With an air shock, it was very playful and easy to move around... with a coil...

I don't usually mess up tape when I install tires using tire levers... but when I do, it's almost always a dh casing tire with an insert and I don't realize it until there is already 6oz of sealant in the tire. Lots of good advice here and I don't have much to add. It's all about being hyper focused...

Tips for getting a DH casing schwalbe or conti tire onto a Bontrager rim: Throw away bontrager wheel Buy a different wheel Mounting tires on Bontrager rims is total bullshit. Avoid at all costs.

A+ changes to the tempo. I've always been commencal curious but all of them that filter in/out of my riding crew sound like a coffee can full of ball bearings going down the trail. Regarding headset cable routing... it obviously sucks. One thing I wish we had gotten out of cable tourism period is headtubes that can accommodate reach adjust...
The machine is basically a motor that turns a shaft, which is turned in to linear up and down motion. The software runs the machine faster and faster, and measures how much force the damper is producing at every point and speed in the stroke. My machine is a CTW "rotary" type dyno with 2 HP and one of the more basic, lower power machines on the market (I think about $15,000 USD today). CTW was born out of a company called Roehrig who pioneered workshop damper testing in the early 90's - many of the older racecar and motorcycle...

EN, CE and UL testing/validation and certification takes time. Getting a new battery chemistry reviewed, tested, certified, fab lines tooled for production and enough production locked in to deliver product is a multi-year effort. Potentially multi-year +1 or 2 right now with how much of this certification, testing and production is being consumed by data center stuff. Regarding the 1p...

The suggestion to go to a carbon rear hoop is a good one. I prefer the feel of the AL reserve wheels on my enduro and LT e-bike, but after way too much rear wheel maintenance I eventually swapped to reserve HD carbon rears and HD aluminum front on my e-bike and HD/SL front on my enduro bike. I feel...

First up, thank you to the Vital team for presenting our product here! Since a few questions came up, I wanted to chime in and clarify a bit what we mean by the Tune Adjusters. As @Slavid666 analyzed pretty much spot-on, the High-Speed Tune Adjuster changes the port configuration underneath a non-preloaded tapered shim stack. With each adjuster position, one additional port is closed off, changing the hydraulically loaded area of the stack. The shim stack itself stays exactly the same, but the way it is loaded changes, which therefore changes the slope of the resulting force-velocity curve. That is...
