ebruner Added a reply to The Ultimate Spectator MTB Race Format?
4 hours ago Just going to leave this here...
On a serious note.... we may be seeing the ultimate spectator form of mtb playing out with the cerro abajo series. It's not really my cup of tea to watch compared to a uci dh round, but it certainly seems to surf a middle ground of interest from those in the sport...

ebruner Added a reply to POC Introduces a DOT-certified DH Helmet That Weighs Just 1040 Grams
4 hours ago me over here in my poverty spec D4 Polyacrylite that I picked up for $250 bucks that weighs 1130g. I've debated the DOT vs DH certification a few times because of a few of my moto riding buddies will use mtb dh helmets for wood/trail riding up in big bear in the heat of the summer. I'm a bit paranoid...

1 day ago Yeah, I agree that the b1 overall have less power then a1s. I've tried pretty much all flavors of Maven's and by my estimation the power heirarchy is: Maven Base, Maven B1, Maven B1 levers w/A1 caliper and lastly Maven A1. The A1 are much snappier with a narrower window of modulation from deadband to enough to lock. Whether B1s...

1 day ago I struggled with a set of TRPs glazing rotors, specifically the RS05E rotors. I honestly thought I just contaminated them somehow and bought a new set of RS01E 203mm rotors. I eventually sold this brakeset to a friend and he hasn't had issues. I moved onto mavens for a variety of reasons, but certainly this was one of them. I...

1 day ago I think Jordi's point is mostly about data collection and analysis being most important in the bike design, validation and product testing phases, and not so much on the day to day of riding the bike during a race event. If I were at the pointy end of the field as a mechanic or engineer involved in the world cup...

7/1/2026 9:59am I have no insider info... but IME burgtec is up there with renthal in terms of the stiffest handlebars I've ever ridden. My assumption is that they are running 31.8 to try and get back into a more reasonable compliance window. I never thought a handlebar could be so stiff that it would wreck me... but my most recent time...

6/30/2026 8:41am The oneup aluminum wheels are interesting when you view the overall portfolio of products at PON. Based on the initial information, there is no intention to offer the rims separately. It makes me wonder if these will be positioned as the slightly more budget option for santacruz oem builds. They weigh more or less the same as a pair of...

6/30/2026 8:27am That polygon is what I would buy at the 3500 price point if it were me. The build kit is pretty solid, that frame got pretty decent reviews in a few dh bike test groups. I would typically default to a new bike with the right no frills build kit over used if all else is equal. Fwiw, I think...

6/29/2026 12:30pm That magnetic thing is cool in theory, but now most trucks are aluminum so it will only work in like half the vehicles out there. I just jamb my rear tire between the truck tire and the wheel arch/fender and it seems to hold the bike just fine. I also have a oneup with a rakattach, so before/after rides i...

6/29/2026 12:26pm The torque spec for that is pretty simple. about 30% tighter then what sram says, and tight af. Even tighter if it's a transmission derailleur instead of the udh... otherwise you'll find that bolt loose after a while.

6/25/2026 9:35am It will almost certainly have belts in it... from an engineering perspective, it's too simple of a solution to not go after it here. That would have weight, packaging and service cost advantages that will seem like value adds to the consumer in the white paper phase. One of them could wise up and devise a rekluse style clutch system...

6/25/2026 9:27am As far as I have read, both of these motor gear box units being presented by Gobao and Avinox are being billed as CVT (or infinite gearing) systems. CVTs are rather simple in application. You have two v-groove pullies connected by a belt and the pullies are split in half down lowest point (center) in the same direction of the...

6/25/2026 8:19am Not try sound elitist here (but I'm sure I'm going to)... as I've gotten older, I've started to focus on buying stuff once and buying it right. It means I pay more for stuff, but I'm more invested in it and I enjoy the process of identifying my specific needs and sourcing the product that fits that. That also gives...

6/24/2026 8:11am On one of the latest MTB Podcasts (WWC podcast) Adam, the founder of Revel, was more bullish then I've ever heard him be about bringing their DH bike concept to market. In the past his response boiled down to, I love the idea but it's not something that's at all on our radar. This last podcast, it was a lot...

6/24/2026 8:08am A lot of companies will ship internationally but pass the tariff bill on because the actual invisible cost is so high. Let's say you have a $50 part imported into the US direct to consumer and you want to cover the costs by sending it DPP (delivery duty paid). UPS will pay the $10 fee and invoice your account. For this service they charge a disbursement fee of 2% of the tariff bill or $17, which evert is higher. So the actual cost of import is $22. No matter how cheap the imported item is it will get hit with...

6/24/2026 8:05am This is a pretty big deal, thank you for managing that. As an anecdote, I bought an product/company name redacted this last year. Great product and I'm stoked with it. But I paid ~225usd for it and got a 75 dollar tarrif bill. Definitely takes the lustre off of it a bit. Not product/company name redacteds fault, they aren't the...

6/24/2026 6:51am Well that’s embarrassing. I was editing the user guide last week based on some feedback from early customers and uploaded the wrong draft. Page 34 should be the last page, all the rest of what you were seeing are templates and fragments of previous pages meant for the website graphics or social media. Thanks for the constructive feedback for sure.

6/23/2026 2:24pm I ordered one up for the 2024 fox 36 that I am running on my HT4. That fork has a glidecore air spring and an mrp lift damper in it along with bushing burnishing I have done. I'm not unhappy with the fork, but certainly I have opinions about balancing ramp up and support in 160mm travel 36mm forks and...

I've battled this on a few pairs of maven's and it simply means your bleed procedures are not working with the maven's. I am stopping short of saying that your bleed procedures...
