ebruner Added a comment about feature Reinventing the Valve Stem - Reserve's New Fillmore Tubeless Valves
11/5/2021 9:43am I understand the heart burn over the 50 dollar price tag. Keep in mind that at this point, doesn't matter where you live... but your currency is likely worth 10-20% less at this exact moment then it was when the design of these valves started. I'm guessing they were targeting a 35-40 dollar price point, but current currency value likely shot that to pieces. Just a hunch, but from my experience, most product managers would want a product like this to hit a price point comfortably below $50 bucks. That being said... most premium presta valves run around 35-40 bucks...

ebruner Added a reply to Will lighter riders benefit from an RS Zeb or Fox 38?
12/16/2020 12:39pm Not to get off to a tangent here, but since it's being floated out there a bunch in the most recent posts. I want to just say that I have had coil converted forks using push and vorsprung. I have also gone down the road of custom dampers in my previous forks. Those coil converted and custom damper forks were...

12/16/2020 11:00am I feel that under 160lbs, you likely wouldn't benefit enough to make the expense of upgrading worth it. In my experience, at 180lbs geared and ready to ride, the 34 is too much flex for me to ride one on anything but a hard tail or a purpose built xc marathon race bike. The 36 has flex that I can...

The two shocks were tested in the open mode. The levers are just clocked slightly different between the two shocks. As for the compression question, we're essentially opening up both compression circuits. So it will be lighter that the stock tune with the adjuster fully open. Obviously the compression tune depends on the rider weight and riding style. In most cases, you'll continue to run the compression fully open and use the air pressure and volume spacers to get the support you need. This helps maintain the suppleness. It's not likely that you would need to use the LSC compression...

I noticed that in the shock slomo and pov footage, the stock shock seems to be running the dpx2 in the medium or mid compression setting vs the tuned dpx2 seems to be running in open. Any comment or validation to that? Related but unrelated... Can you speak to the differences in performance between running a light compression tune with a few more clicks of LSC adjuster, vs a firmer compression tune with the adjuster more open. I realize that this is shock design specific info/commenting, so we can keep it specifically to the DPX2. I guess I'm wondering if...

8/20/2018 8:09am Wow! Awesome comments by all!! Few thoughts... 1) To the poster asking about air being semi-speed sensitive I suggest you listen to this... https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/TECH-TALK-Air-Shocks-Versus-Coil-Shoc… as it touches on the adiabatic process. This is what I was referring to. Really the position sensitivity and manipulation of an airshock is most important in this equation, but yeah, I did want to throw this out there too. The poster asking about a coil being better in the midstroke, that is something we can debate (not saying you are wrong), but the midstroke of the shock is not where flats happen. Its when you...

8/17/2018 10:32am I'm a moderately skilled weekend warrior mountain bike rider, and a highly skilled road course racing driver (Miata's) including some endurance races. I don't have much to add with regards to making adjustments to Richie Rude's riding because I just can't put as much energy into the bike/terrain as he can. What I can interject with is what i know...

Best vital raw edit so far. Phil Atwil's riding takes the cake for most fun looking. The speed on blenki, iles, bruni is unreal. The bulldog looks like he's trying to smash the course to pieces. I could watch the middle moto rhythm section literally all day.

ebruner Added a comment about press release Jake Hood Takes the Road to Enlightenment on the All-New Kona Satori
3/30/2018 8:53am I race for my lbs so I help out at most of our demo's leading rides etc. Fortunately, that has allowed me to demo a lot of bikes. I've ridden pretty much all of pivot's range, all of giant's offerings and santacruz as well. I've ridden a few kona's and even less rocky mountains. I currently own an SC Hightower LT, a kona heihei and a nomad 4. Out of all of them the hightower and the heihei get the most ride time. It's getting pretty difficult to pick between the hightower and the heihei at this point because the...

3/29/2018 3:51pm Kona's FUSE rear suspension platform. It is a flex stay based single pivot design. I was very leery of it until I demo'd a heihei 29 dl with it and I was blown away. So much so I ended up buying one. The bike snob in me wants to justify the VPP systems of the bike it shares a stable with, but the fuse suspension design is fun as hell. I'd be interested to try it out in a longer travel form. I love it on the heihei because it makes the bike explosive and very poppy. It adds an...
