Agree 100% on the code comments. Taking the time to bleed them correctly, and then properly bleeding the lever's if/when needed is critical. Regarding the stuck pistons. I find these tools to be immensely helpful on not just sram brakes, but all brakes. I've bought the whole set and it makes it every easy to un-stick, clean and lubricate pistons...
@TEAMROBOT I definitely agree on the smashpot vs secus (and by extension vs luftkappe and A1+ air spring). One thing that was very noticeable to me when I first got my zeb, was how much the fork seemed to sink through the mid stroke and would then ramp up hard at the end. There seemed to be some pre-load on...
You've got some good responses here... and I agree with most, if not all of it. That being said, the zeb is more subject to ramp up from air in the lowers then any fork I've used before, that combined with the relatively massive air spring positive chamber volume, can make using full travel a rare event. I have a...

I have a huge honker... I mean seriously, it's massive. (photo below for reference of huge honker expertise) The bridge of my nose is very straight without a bump/bulge from breaks or anything like that (my father's has a hump from a broken nose) At any rate, I've had good luck with the smith squad and the smith squad XL...

echo stick's comments on my experience with emtb ownership. My wife and I both have orbea rise's. I've got 2,500 miles on mine in 18 months and my wife just under 1,000. I am very attentive to how I treat the batteries and do it exactly like stick suggested and I have zero range degradation and issues overall. I have...

My advice is to not buy used unless you have a qualified bike mechanic bro that can help. Between fork, shock, drivetrain and seat post, it's very easy to buy a 2,500 dollar bike that needs 1k of work to perform as a baseline 2,500 bike should. There are diamonds in the rough... but only about 10-20% (20% seems really...
6'2" here, ride an XL and have a 33"ish inseam. I had been running 175's on my trail/xc bikes and 170 on my enduro bikes and ebike for years. Recently, I switched to 165's on my enduro bike, 160mm on my ebike and 170 on my trail/xc bike. When I initially built up my enduro bike back in 19', I...

I want to take a moment to thank Darren from Push, who has a small business to run, for taking time to weigh in and educate mouth breathers like me about what's happening inside our suspension stuff that goes up-and-down. I've learned a ton from reading so far. Thanks, Darren!

Incorrect. DPX2 is definitely a twin-tube design: the damper shaft (that holds the base valve and connects damper body to the reservoir) is twinned, and oil recirculates through the reservoir/mid valves to/from the damper body and back. This means the (adjustable) resi/mid valves can have a more powerful effect because a large amount of oil is [re]circulating through them, and the (fixed) base valve doesn't have to handle all the non-shaft-displacment oil flow. On a mono-tube with a reservoir, only shaft-displaced oil goes through those resi/mid valves, and that smaller flow through the mids with the accompaning massive flow through...

Twin Tube Dampers... When I think twintube dampers I firstly think Ohlins. Many years ago, when they released the TTX40 for motorsports applications, they released the following technical document that I found helpful to understanding twin tube dampers in general. https://www.ohlinsusa.com/files/files/Inside_TTX_A4-Europe1.pdf While I'm referencing motorsports documents with these posts... it's important to remember that the packaging and as a result...
Well, maybe this turns into me yelling into a wall about stuff no one cares about. Let's start with a layup discussion regarding rear shock architecture. To my knowledge, there are three main damper architecture types that are commonly used in rear shocks at the moment. -Twin Tube, Monotube and Bypass. This link is for automotive applications, but it provides...
Hey all... I fancy myself a suspension technology nerd but I believe that I (like most) understand just enough of it to be dangerous. I've envisioned a general suspension technology thread on this forum for quite some time. The point of this thread (as I have it envisioned at least) would be to discuss theories, past products/engineering and of course...

with all due respect... I'm not sure you get to chose whether you're Charlie or "The Charlie"... in some circles, you very well could be "The Charlie". Tongue

Same questions John Hall mentioned apply. Carbon or AL? DS or NDS? Is your tensiometer calibrated? Typically, I shoot for just under the hoop mfg max which on many carbon wheels is ~130kgf... so I'm shooting for 120ish on the drive side. When I'm lacing up ex511's... which prior to the reserve hoops, was the only AL hoop I will...

Not that anyone cares... I have gx axs and I'm on my 3rd derailleur (first two were warrantied for clutch failures). I originally had it on my enduro bike because that's the bike I put all the fancy stuff on... but I also travel with it in a bike bag often and liked the ability to remove it from the...

Have you guys seen the price of a sandwich or apartment lately? Seems to the ROBOTS like your human overlords are getting pretty greedy in most categories these days, not just championship winning downhill bikes.

Get the stumpjumper or the ripmo. The status is tempting, but the very short chainstays make it a bike that caters to more advanced riding styles imo. The habit and the riftzone are decent bikes, but there are things in the geometry charts that would send me elsewhere that are very in depth to explain. The giant trance x29 is...

good question @ebruner. i actually have no idea how it works on the industry side. we knew orbea, giant and commencal were coming out today (anywhere from a few weeks to a week notice), and we got a generic PR email from scott last night at 130am about the lumen. the tip in this forum about "scott ebike on dec 1" was all we knew until that email dropped LOL. we don't tell brands about other launch dates (we're too busy w/ our own work), but i'm sure it can happen. not sure it would matter for big brands though...

Spomer has way more experience in this field than I do, but I am always impressed that the first of every month is jam-packed with press releases. I always expect it to be busy on the 1st, and I've been curious why brands still launch new bikes/products on the first when you can only assume other press releases will be hitting the homepage. I know people at brands chat, but with how many factors go into planning a product launch, it's got to be tough to change an embargo last minute just because someone else is launching something. I'm sure...

@sspomer how does it work when there are a bunch of press releases and bike releases on the same day like this? Is this just total coincidence? Is there some sort of market driver for fiscal year end or something on 12/1? I assume the product managers for these brands are pretty plugged in and have a pretty good idea...
