IMO it doesn't come down to shimano (or any brand launching a product) being the problem in this case. they have a launch coming up (they said, june 5). they have to get their product and info in the right places before the launch. it's a kook or two at these places (OE, shops, brands, media, who knows) who are posting things they don't have a right to post. if shimano asks vital to remove stuff but not other outlets, it must mean our viewers are actually important 🤣

One thing to keep in mind is that, because both rebound and compression damping exert a force proportional to the shaft speed of the shock/fork, all changing these will do is alter the amount of time that it takes for the fork to dive and/or the shock to extend under breaking. During sustained braking, all you can do to prevent the fork from compressing more is add volume spacers and the only thing that can prevent the shock from extending is anti-rise.

Did the old brightness trick on the EXT pic from their instagram. Cant tell much from the pic, but there are some differences compared to the V4. Cant spot it from this angle, but if its a cheaper version as someone earlier commented, we can suspect that it doesnt come with an HBO, or at least not an adjustable one as the V4. Adjustors/lockout look similar otherwise. Possibly a normal/heavy spring instead of their lighter springs. And it looks to be a "regular" chrome(?) shaft, instead of the V4's DLC coated shaft. I'll chime in by saying that if continuous, significant lever force on long steep descents is what is causing the discomfort, go with the Mavens with a pair of big rotors. They are pretty much unmatched in terms of sheer power-to-lever force ratio IMO. Keep in mind that I am talking about the kind of steep where you need significant braking force for extended periods of time, in other words, once you are past the initial bite point and well into the powerful portion of the lever...

The bushings are sized to give minimum friction without having to worry about customers complaining about bushing play. Obviously misalignment from an under or oversized hub width is going to cause more friction, but the tolerances on the bushings are TINY and the basic rule is make the clearance as big as possible without crossing into the warranty loose bushing danger zone. I think floating axles are a small performance benefit, but I also enjoy the simplicity of the regular 15mm axle when I load a bike into the back of my car.

I know we spent thousands of dollars on precision ground sizers, go/no-go gauges and had countless sets of lowers sized, CMM measured, tested, inspected, dyno'ed etc and STILL had a lot to learn about bushing sizing. BUT sizing the bushings bigger almost always makes the fork feel better, so if a shop does that and cleans/services your fork at the same time- it might be a nice improvement. It's just a company like RS can't gamble with over-sizing bushings. You'd have thousands of warranty forks to deal with. If a shop over-sizes a few customer's lowers not a big deal...

110% on target. Pal had a spoke pop midway thru a 25mi ride and it went through the sealing tape. Bummer, but a tube held up for the rest of the loop. Week later on my way home same damn thing happened to me on my commuter. Got hip to the idea of the Gorilla Tape over sealing tape from another website. It does stop the puncture and the sealing tape is a treat to remove as compared to year old and sealant logged Gorilla Tape. Added bonus, it creates a better seal in the tire drop zone, so even...
