ebruner Added a reply to Anyone rode the Bronson v5 and the nomad v6?

I have an xl v6 nomad and I have spent a week on the v5 bronson and v4 hightower. Previously, I've owned many other SC bikes, v4 nomad, v1 megatower, v2 megatower... etc. For me, it would depend on the intended usage. I would still lean nomad if I were in your position, but mostly because I use my nomad...

Women's mountain biking is so lit right now. I hope the ladies are stoked with their riding and the show they put on because it was excellent. I was a little lost in the who is riding whose line storylines in the broadcast, which was a big story in this years event. Feels like the women got 10 years of...
Felt this was a fitting place to post my thoughts on running a Boxxer on a Spire. Spoiler Alert: Its the best setup I've run thus far. I genuinely don't understand why we don't see this more often, from ~160-170mm on up. Especially on e-bikes. I suppose price is part of it, but my real guess is what I'm going to call "mimesis"; we all broadly follow more than we lead. And breaking convention is hard.

The part about the calipers/pistons is correct. Maven bronze has the same caliper as silver/ult/expert and based is 2x18. This would be the first I'm hearing about maven bronze being discontinued, last I checked (2 days ago) you could still order up a set of bronze brakes, but maybe that's just existing stock. Fwiw, this move would make sense, the...

Thanks for the question. Long story short if the rim is unsafe to ride, it's immediately retired and the hub is re-laced to a new rim. I also have to consider the massive loss of time if I send my rider up on a rim I'm not 100% confident in. Not only do we lose a practice run, but it takes me 40-50 min for one wheel build(including taping and insert/tire mounting). I could easily be halfway through a fresh wheel build in the time it takes my rider to do one practice run so if I have any doubt...

I have, it was excellent but didn't last long at all... mostly because the HR3 is only available in maxx gripp. For now, I am using the conti krypto rear dh soft for any application where I want dhr2 braking performance and side knob bite, but more penetration through dust/loose conditions and better wear. It pains me to run different...

Fwiw, my nomad 6 will eat a push 11.6 spherical bearing in like 6 weeks. Since switching to the push cartridge bearing eyelet on that same shock, it has been problem free since.

One more thing to throw out in this discussion... is that with progressive coils, the spring length vs the stroke length of your shock starts to become something to look at. Meaning that if the progressive rate spring is the constant in this thought process, that a 57.5, 60, 65mm stroke shock are going to dip into that progressiveness at...

Always air down the shock for service before you remove it from the frame. That way you can use the leverage of the frame to hold the shock at the equalization dimple and empty both positive and negative chambers at once. Seems like you've got that figured out now, just leaving this here for the next person who finds this...
I have a set of DHR evo's with 203 rotors, shimano metallic pads and freedom coast levers. The freedom coast levers are for sure an upgrade over the standard levers and the ergonomics and power. That being said, these brakes have way too much free stroke and it leads to more finger/hand fatigue for me then the maven bronze and...

does the vital sluething brain trust know who runs the "UCI Gary" instagram account? https://www.instagram.com/uci_gary/?hl=en The memes that get posted after race events are pure gold. I remember wyn saying that he wasn't the one running it, but the jokes are purely up his ally. It has to be someone with inside information because the jokes are too specific to...

I don't want to be that guy here, because every internet guy has a story like this, and because this thread is about business viability and not product. But... I have personally broken a rear wheel on a Forge and Bond demo wheelset and I have seen in person, two other forge/bond wheels get broken on rides. While I have...

I just gotta say, as far as mtb online community contributions to the lexicon go... crab link is way better then downcountry. Feels the right amount of "inside baseball" and too far out there for the masses to absorb. Feel like this is going to be one of those if you know you know inside jokes for a long time...

Not sure if this has been posted but got a picture of the bottom of the Brosnan's Boxxer at the US Open. I assume this is what's on the Zebb too.
