12/2/2025 8:49am I can actually provide some feedback here to the maven base vs all other flavors of maven conversation... unfortunately, @TEAMROBOT took most of the words right out of my mouth. I have 3 sets of maven brakes on my bikes, Experts, Bronze and Base. I am running 200mm HS2 rotors and metallic pads on all of the setups. I recently...

11/25/2025 4:37pm Thanks for the math award. I don’t even practice so it’s double nice. We are also very handsome here on the messageboards. That bike is super dumb looking.

11/19/2025 11:03am Also interested in hearing what people have been playing with. I might retire some TRP eventually and was thinking about trying TRP levers with Maven calipers. Maven power unfortunately ruined my TRPs haha, but would be nice to have a lighter lever pull on the Mavens. Shimano levers could be an option to apparently from MTBR.

11/13/2025 8:45am I know this sounds crazy, but I would go with db8's with metallic pads and Hs2 rotors before going with the codes at this point. I jumped on my trail bike that had codes with hs2 rotors after being on my bikes with maven's for 6 weeks straight and the lack of braking performance was a bit jarring, also my...

11/13/2025 8:00am Yeah, I know, it's weird. I will only buy bikes that I can source through my LBS and if I were to go off of that rule, there are only two brands that I would do so with RAAW or Frameworks. Truth be told, I've ridden a lot of crab bikes (haven't we all) and I have mostly no complaints...

11/12/2025 1:23pm I think I am too weak mentally to pedal a high pivot bike on 6-7k elevation gain days. I can admit that the idler doesn't provide more then 1-2% drag... and with my roller coaster fitness levels, it won't make/break my ability to finish a ride with 5k+ However, mentally, I'm going to be over thinking it and my obsession...

11/12/2025 12:37pm OMG this took me too my emotionally hijacked self. I've been with my wife for over 20 years at this point (I swear I'm not that old, we just met young) and I've thrown a full blown temper tantrum meltdown 3-4 times in that time period. The biggest one was a similar story getting ready for a CES event at...

11/12/2025 12:33pm Soon AI will design the bikes, the AI will scrape the web for what is and isn't important in bike design... it will find this thread. We will then be delivered the true final boss... crab industrial design, with crab link and headset crab claw routing. It will simultaneously be the end of days, and the beginning of days. Related...
ebruner Added a reply to FOX Podium Inverted MTB Fork - Questions, Answers, Reviews
11/11/2025 8:27am The LBS that I'm affiliated with is passing around a fox podium for the core riders to try, we were previously passing around a v1 nine.one. I digress, I just picked up the demo podium to try out for 2 weeks... There was a delay in my ability to try it because it was leaking and needed to be dealt...
ebruner Added a reply to Fork chassis, axles, friction: burnishing, chassis alignment, etc...
11/10/2025 11:49am I have for sure had several of these forks in my fleet long enough to speak to detrimental effects. I haven't yet had one develop bushing knock from burnishing, that is in any way noticeable in any way shape or form. Specifically I mean that there is no bushing play in the fork if you have it off the bike...

11/10/2025 8:21am Whoops, sorta forgot about this thread and forgot to respond to @Digit Bikes many moons ago. I digress. I start with a .07mm die head for my own forks because I am not aligning the bushings from one side to another as I am doing this. I am purely clearancing them to a given size. Because of this, I like...

11/10/2025 7:49am Longshot here... does anyone fancy a trade on brake setups? My TRPs for your Mavens. I have some TRP DHR Evos that I'd like to trade for Maven Silvers. I like my TRPs, but now my 3 other bikes have maven's on them and switching back and forth is a pain. I'm going to fire sale these at an insane...

11/6/2025 10:59am Sick bike. I remember crashing myself to pieces on one of these at mammoth bike park in 2008. Great times.

11/6/2025 10:49am Every topic is just one nudge away from a chainstay debate. Not to beat the dead horse here... but I see it both ways. I'm currently riding bikes with 450+ chainstays paired with ~500mm reaches. That being said, I had a megatower 1 with a 495 reach and 435/445 chainstays with a flipchip adjustment. I actually preferred the 435mm chainstays...
ebruner Added a reply to What is the ultimate park bike?
11/6/2025 8:08am It depends on how many days a year I'm going to spend in a park. If below 10-12, then a long travel free-ride or enduro bike is the answer for me, which is what I have done (nomad 6). If more then that and I have no desire to try to dual use and pedal it anywhere, then the answer...

11/5/2025 1:50pm Agreed on the maintenance of the ochain being a pain. I have 3 of them now, and I think i've settled on them needing a tear down and maintenance once every 1k miles. They are not fun to rebuild and there is some specificity on the grease they need. Also easy to dump all of the inside bits out while...

11/5/2025 12:47pm I gave up on rotor truing tools entirely... I found that I end up warping them worse then when I started. Knipex pliers are the move for me when truing rotors. Fortunately, that means one less tool to take with me on fly away trips.

11/5/2025 8:13am I had a so/so experience with those rotors. Admittedly, I'm a trp newb... but about 1/3 of the way into my usage of those rotors and the first set of brake pads, I started to develop ticking/clicking sensation that was not only audible, but I could feel through the levers. I tried to champfer the leading edges of the pads...
