5/23/2026 10:34am To bring it back to tech stuff, the new Scott Spark we saw at Korea will have a shock cover to seal the frame, but currently the flight attendant shocks don't fit in one.

5/22/2026 4:12pm I want to preface this by saying I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but it seems to me that people complaining that the bike wasn't made for them is partially what lead to the V6 Tallboy the way it is. It's become part of the homogenous mass of Horst link bikes. I remember times when people complained...

5/22/2026 7:04am And that's the concern, not that the new Tallboy isn't a "good bike" it's probably pretty good for the average rider, but that SC is losing focus on what made them good. It's that cost savings comes before design and brand identity. I can see why Rob Roskopp left the brand.

5/22/2026 7:01am Yeah, but they are quite similar - frame geos are within a few mms, same shock sizes, overall layout / shape looks the same, yada yada. I would not be surprised if SC staff was told - "we need a new bike with as little engineering costs as possible - why don't we reuse the designs of the late GT frames, tweak them a little and make them more SC-ish?" The story telling - the pedaling improvements, long vs short travel for VPP etc. is just vitriol-inducing pure marketing bullshit. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter...

5/20/2026 6:39pm Branding, demand and money. I dont think suspension kinematics play any role in that. Its just about to find where they can drop vpp for more profit without tanking overall brand that is built around vpp. Question might be if that brand is strong enough to survive with such change.

5/19/2026 7:52pm Wheel size looks the same as the other Tallboy, so I bet they just didn't take the sticker covering the name of the bike off.

5/19/2026 4:17pm Frame kinematics that require stuffing air cans full of volume spacers and are a big no-go for coil shocks? Hmmm, I feel like we have been here before.

5/19/2026 3:59pm That sounds an awful lot like they actually didn't get the leverage curve they wanted. Nothing wrong with designing a frame to work with the natural progressivity of an air shock, but if you use all the volume spacers in the air shock you spec stock, you probably would be better served with a more progressive leverage curve.

5/19/2026 12:00pm Lots of talk about how it's 300g lighter, but in nearly the same XT di2 build, the intense spider is .2 lbs lighter than the Tallboy and 1400 dollars cheaper.

5/19/2026 11:57am Probably is fine with a progressive spring. Or just do it anyways, it's not like no one has run linear coils on bikes with that low of progression before.

5/18/2026 11:06am Does anyone have any experience on the new semi metallic pad from TRP compared to the old metallic ones? And how they would compare to something like the Shimano metallic? I need to replace the pads in a set of Shimanos and am thinking of trying them since they fit.

5/17/2026 1:05pm Oh yeah, 18 inch ruts everywhere, just like the track at Solitude after the monster energy dh. Honestly, I can see the world cup coming to Solitude way before it goes to Deer Valley, if they expand the park further up the mountain the way they've been talking about it, that could be a sweet track.
