Sorry, by OEM I meant that I've only seen them come on complete bikes. Here are some pictures They're on Gr30 wheels and the road 40/44 wheels. The higher end builds do have dt hubs. I do think I've seen them on some aluminum mountain wheels, but I don't have pictures or the bike anymore.

I want to preface this by saying I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but it seems to me that people complaining that the bike wasn't made for them is partially what lead to the V6 Tallboy the way it is. It's become part of the homogenous mass of Horst link bikes. I remember times when people complained...
And that's the concern, not that the new Tallboy isn't a "good bike" it's probably pretty good for the average rider, but that SC is losing focus on what made them good. It's that cost savings comes before design and brand identity. I can see why Rob Roskopp left the brand.

Yeah, but they are quite similar - frame geos are within a few mms, same shock sizes, overall layout / shape looks the same, yada yada. I would not be surprised if SC staff was told - "we need a new bike with as little engineering costs as possible - why don't we reuse the designs of the late GT frames, tweak them a little and make them more SC-ish?" The story telling - the pedaling improvements, long vs short travel for VPP etc. is just vitriol-inducing pure marketing bullshit. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter...

Branding, demand and money. I dont think suspension kinematics play any role in that. Its just about to find where they can drop vpp for more profit without tanking overall brand that is built around vpp. Question might be if that brand is strong enough to survive with such change.

Frame kinematics that require stuffing air cans full of volume spacers and are a big no-go for coil shocks? Hmmm, I feel like we have been here before.

That sounds an awful lot like they actually didn't get the leverage curve they wanted. Nothing wrong with designing a frame to work with the natural progressivity of an air shock, but if you use all the volume spacers in the air shock you spec stock, you probably would be better served with a more progressive leverage curve.
Does anyone have any experience on the new semi metallic pad from TRP compared to the old metallic ones? And how they would compare to something like the Shimano metallic? I need to replace the pads in a set of Shimanos and am thinking of trying them since they fit.
