8/13/2026 5:07pm The discourse about the new Kona ebikes on Pinkbike is baffling to me. Clearly I'm out of touch, but I don't think it looks ugly, I think the geo is good, the Bosch motors are proven well supported and one of the best on the market, what's the problem?

8/12/2026 7:33pm Something I noticed today, On the Santa Cruz bike archive the 5010 is not listed as a current model, just up to 2025. I haven't heard anything about it being discontinued from my SC rep, but none of the other current models are marked like that in the archive.

8/10/2026 5:14pm You could just use lead shot for fishing and then use an expander plug to stop up the hole. Might rattle a bit but you could wrap it up in tape to make it tubed and mute the sound.

John Tomac is widely considered one of the greatest (American) mountain bike racers of all time. During the early years of international racing he won numerous DH and XC events. He went on to be the namesake and involved with Tomac bikes. The 204 DH frame in the photo was their flagship model. The bike company then ceased to exist (in the late 2000s?). 8/4/2026 7:51pm So are Ripley SLs, they've basically canceled all the XL sizes of the frame and the blue colorway, not sure exactly what is going on, but I've heard that something is going on with the carbon supplier and some government snatching up the carbon allocated for Ripley frames for themselves. Weird stuff.

8/4/2026 7:45pm I'm all in on times, they work great, have less angular float than CB so they're easier to get out off and you can't bash the retention arms open in a rock strike like you can with CBs. I've used the same set of Speciale 8s for almost 6 years without needing to rebuild them and they're still going strong...

7/30/2026 1:26pm From what I know, it's going to be like 140mm travel. What I don't know is if it's a flex pivot or a Horst link. If it's a Horst link they should call it the new genius because that what it'll be.
