7/23/2025 10:16am Add pressure to the shock. I find that balancing front and rear can be tricky because changes at one end affect the other. Increasing pressure on the rear shock will lower the travel usage and help prevent bottom out. I find that if the rear end is too soft I use less fork travel since the bike can just leverage against the rear shock instead of the fork moving.

7/23/2025 10:16am I'd forget everything if I could. I'm very capable of thinking about X so focusedly that my feet take me right past Y to go to Z even if Y is leaning up against the door. Which is also why I don't have batteries on my bike. They'll be forgotten immediately. My focus walks me right past my lunch and...

7/23/2025 9:09am someone please start a broken bikes thread and continue the discussion there. on the topic of racing, there's a Monster Pro DH race in Utah this weekend and we'll be there. Stoked! Attendance may be a little less-attended (Asa and Neko at Hardline, Luca said he's only doing National Champs), but excited nonetheless. Stay tuned for some #USDH goods this week.

7/22/2025 1:48pm So you're telling me people have a hard time maintaining perspective? Guy who was hired to help bike company test bikes because he rides hard enough break bikes actually goes out and rides hard enough to break bikes? Guy who rides hard when cameras aren't rolling also rides hard when cameras are rolling? "...he asked for the clip to be...

7/22/2025 12:59pm I'm definitely not coming at you or being snarky about the bike. I'm saying that sometimes things happen to bikes and I remember when a similar thing happened to a Pivot and the mtb internet went into a tizzy about it. I'll be curious to see if this gets much attention.

7/22/2025 12:51pm Someone on the other site is saying he couldn't get his visa sorted in time. I know he's had visa issues before, I was hoping he'd be in a better position now he's on a bigger team, but if the information is correct that's a real shame.

7/22/2025 12:51pm There's also 10 World Cups to get through this year (+ Worlds...). Might be that some really prefer to rest up at this point in the season.

7/22/2025 12:43pm According to people during Hardline Tazmania, that only happens to Pivots. Does that mean that - just perhaps - bikes that get ridden hard sometimes break?

7/22/2025 10:45am Complete speculation (I've both not looked at the Hardline start list close enough to remember who's on it and have heard nothing of this sort otherwise): I'd bet he's staying out because he's doing really well in the DH World Cup; exceeding expectations even if the results haven't been as good as hoped. He qualified first in Andorra and -...

7/16/2025 11:30am I would venture to say 75% of arm pump occurs bc of brake lever setup, 10% how the brake is used and 25% bc the brake system itself. That's 110% true.

7/15/2025 11:18am His bike does seem to be improvised jazz quite often. I love the run what you brung attitude (because that's my attitude) but I'm also not trying to eek out performance to win races. I'm just trying to be better today than I was yesterday on the same gear so I can actually measure my improvement and put it down...

7/9/2025 12:31pm I think it's more those "bad habits" leave you in a position where potentially necessary skills are unlearned and left on the table. If you never have to bunnyhop higher than 4 inches then it's not a "bad habit" to learn to hop up and lift the bike with your feet. But if you ever come up to a 15-inch...
