i understand your thinking and get it based on the risk, but the truth is this segment of bike riding is so small and only really attracts other mtb riders. disc golf is huge in comparison which most anybody can get into for less than $50 and enjoy themselves at. it draws a larger audience and has a larger subset of people participating.

Don't knock disc golf. It is fun as hell, and the perfect come down after rowdy riding. But yes, there is no doubt the Rampage prize purse is not commensurate with the risk the riders take.

walker shaw is UNION tm now. email from steel city media belwo Hey all, Just wanted to introduce you to our new team manager, Walker Shaw! Hopefully you've crossed paths with Walker before on the circuit or in the pub, but in case you haven't, he's a long-term friend of SCM and a super talented rider himself, having raced at the top level all over the globe since his junior years. Racing on the World Cup DH circuit as a privateer for many years means he already knows what riders need and can relate to the daily happenings on and...

Haha! I'll admit that I am not usually a "bike build" video person, but I really enjoyed the heck out of this one.

IMO, it's a two-way street. Shouldn't someone in Cannondale's marketing team be making an effort to get some benefit out of having Tinker on their roster? I've been around long enough to remember when Tinker was a regular in magazine ads. Obviously marketing strategies have changed, but there are still brands that leverage their athletes by paying photographers, film crews, etc. to produce content that highlights both the athlete and the brand. Sure doesn't seem like Cannondale was doing that... but I'd watch a video about Tinker riding some wild marathon race in South America on the new Lefty fork...

The expression "love conquers hate" was obviously minted before the advent of the e-bike.

Yeah, nah... I don't cheer for cheaters. Using the phrase "Way too much grey area there for the common man" (from your comment above) is obsequious to the point of craven. It's okay if we feel differently about what Rude did, but maybe it's best to stick to discussing what Rude did and not attacking one another's feelings about it.

Hating on e-bikes is one of the most irrational thing ever. I could understand it when they first came out and caused some trail acces issues in NA, but just hating on them is silly. No one is forcing you to ride one, people riding them don't affect how much fun can be had on a normal bike. E-bike racing probably needs to find the right format, but I'm fine with it as is. Do you'all think it's somehow cheating? On who, other people riding electric bicycles? Is it not hard enough? So it's DH compared to XC or Enduro...

Does anyone know what Richie's time would have been had he not been DSQ'd? The UCI goes down hard on course cutting. Time penalties are rarely given, and when these are given, it's usually because the rider crashed and had no way to go back inside the course without taking a short cut through course tape or course markers. I don't think Rude and Lukasik intentionally wanted to cheat. It's probably a similar case to when MVDP went OTB in the Olympics. The rider gets so focused for the race that communiques or team orders are not given the attention...

I don’t understand all this hate for ebikes. I don’t own one for the moment but I rented one this summer and I can say that I had a lot of fun. Yes, the engine helps with the climb but you still have to pedal. And the power is the same for all engines…For industry e-bikes segment is gold, I want to ride as long as possible and ebikes are helping us. For all those haters grab an ebike, go out for a ride and get back with feedback. There are a lot of things to improve but keep in...

If this was the final stage and the corner cutting caused him to win the series over Moir? How would that be fair? Gates have been used for ages in enduro as courses can't be 100% taped like dhi or xco. If you're one of the top racers in the world, you know this. It's not rocket science. He knew, he cheated, no excuses. The pcp commissaire made a good call, don't hate on the rules or the uci. Their job is to make racing safe and fair. In another scenario, if Rude had slid out and gone the wrong...
