This is a bit like asking what is the correct stance in snowboarding, goofy or regular? There is no "correct", it's whatever works best for you.

The common thread in all of this is the name you keep dropping, and the one that has disappeared from our lexicon: WBD and UCI. WBD is a for profit organization, they're going to try to make profit from things they spend money on. The problem is that the UCI sold DHMTB broadcast rights during a bubble as a money maker to WBD, but in reality, it was already a stone with not a lot of blood (profit) left to be squeezed from it, and certainly not the legs to become some F1 scale thing (and if you've watched much...

I think the "too easy" comment was just Gully clutching at straws for something to say in the moment. You could see his surprise at the score Brendog was given

The sport of freeri... "Stolenride" is dead. But you know what? We're not the target audience anyway... Haven't been for a couple of years as far as I can tell? The marketing money is after couch dwellers wanting spectacle. The people who created the sport or event are irrelevant, the money (and it is only the money that the corporate's are interested in) is in them not us. We are just the creative cannon fodder for their profit and loss spreadsheet. And the spectacle they want for that market is slopestyle meets "Death Race 2000".

dd Added a comment about news story RESULTS & REPLAY: $100,000 Awarded - Red Bull Rampage Men's Competition 2024

I think this is mostly right. Gravity fans are not the market that the owners/broadcasters of Rampage are trying to attract. We're watching already, and there aren't enough of us to make it pay. They want the couch dwellers and internet surfers and any other eyeball they can grab, and the strategy to grab them is to make a big spectacle. That means tricks and amplitude. Brendog was robbed, again, but it was hardly a surprise.

I'm with the comments, if only a photographer or two could go around the pits doing 30s interviews, then they could play them over their photos in some kind of slideshow. If they have nice photos but no audio, then just play the same muzak track for about 15 years. I can't believe no one has tried this before.

Mother Nature loves freeride 🤩 every day she provides a wonderful morning window, full of soft sunshine and low winds, for any freeride event you care to put on. Broadcast executives utterly despise freeride 😂😂😂

When I think about race runs that have stood out to me over the years, to then get 2 back to back, both put down by the same guy? Phenomenal.

I'd vote for Yakety Sax or Flight of the Bumblebee but that's just me (and props to Blevs for keeping it upright!)

The Dirty Dan is a pretty grippy tire on roots and rocks compared to other mud spikes, so... maybe? I know a lot of the French racers run like to run super low tire pressure and bounce off their rims all the time, so that wouldn't hurt on wet roots and ice-rink greasy clay sections. Ultimately, my gut says it wasn't about tire choice on Saturday, just the rider being in the right head space. His interviews were super interesting. Seemed like he thought he was in a great tactical position for a win in tricky conditions, which would set...
