8/27/2026 2:06am So theres a few things - Most riders, even the best ones spend for more time on the rear brake so it will get hotter faster, and this only gets more pronounced on steeper/faster tracks. The terrain is a lot more uneven and loose which makes it tricky to apply maximum front brake for every corner, plus a rider can shift their weight backwards much more than a car or motorcycle can. The other thing is polymers have a non-linear relationship between load and friction, which means there are diminishing returns to loading the front wheel under braking. ie if...

8/26/2026 10:54am What do you mean amplify. Weight transfer gives you more grip. It only makes sense to have more braking power (i.e. bigger rotor) in the front. QED: literally every car on the road. If it has a rear weight bias (Porsche for example) or a near 50 50 split, the difference front to rear is smaller, but still present.

8/26/2026 8:44am One big tech not and one small tech note from World Champs pit bits- As y'all mentioned, Schwalbe now makes a 32" Radial Gravity Pro Magic Mary, which is a big deal because that makes it the first truly heavy duty 32" tire from any brand. Previously Neko was running an EXO+ Dissector up front on his 32" Frameworks DH bike at Mountain Creek. He said the EXO+ front tire felt fine and didn't bug him, which is nuts, and makes me suspect that the 32" front wheel could actually feel really really good with a proper DH tread, casing...

8/26/2026 5:20am Remember Canberra (sp?) World's, where Peat won? USAC selected (or was forced to select) Brian Lopes instead of someone newish that could learn and prosper in the future. Instead, a semi retired older dude who has been to many world's in their lifetime. Depending on your perspective of why x over z you have a posture. Either way, you're not wrong. But still.... Go look to see just how awesome Lopes did. (that was sarcasm, BTW) Jus sayin The Gwin topic reminds me of this.

8/25/2026 10:53am How? The laid out the criteria for selection and other riders had better results to get selected. Should they get bumped just because it’s AG? If anything it’s one drawback for Gwin racing part time on the WC circuit

Pierron (2), Goldstone (2, including last year), Vergier (1), Hart (1, World Champs 2016). * [Edit: as @chriskief has pointed out, Aaron Gwin won't be racing this weekend. 8/25/2026 10:51am Oh man all this talk about the Canucks racing at home, in Whistler, makes me so excited that I got the time off and have my room booked for the show. Finn is always a threat at home. Jackie Boy is hitting his stride and ready to throw down. And I just know Miss Gracey is right at home on the 1199 track. Having 3 actual podium threats living in the area where they all grew up and it's gonna be electric! Long live Chainsaw!

8/25/2026 10:49am ok so we keep hearin this cryptic nonsense about Finn's injury, and potentially being able to get back as soon as Whistler... and then he drops this lil reply in the comments of this uci post https://www.instagram.com/uci_mtbworldseries/p/Dcbku1BDMpp/ I was legit gonna write a comment about how the social media manager must not be following current events if they think finn is still in the race but we already got finn dunking on people making similar replies in the comments. multiple people saying he should be good (HOW good tho?) by Whistler I still think it's a tough task even for...

8/25/2026 10:48am All but two of the trees were under 6" if I remember right. The irony in that to me is that in New England they go out and thin out shrubs and saplings every single year at ski areas and sometimes the people helping to do that will make their own secret gladed spot. There are definitely spots where the tiny trees are too tight to just go around.
